Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Tammy Carpenter
Hello, my name is Tammy, I am the Activities coordinator. I joined Hyacinth House as one of the Night Seniors, I am so happy and proud to be part of the Hyacinth team. All my colleagues are so passionate about our journey together and what we are doing, we all share the Barchester values and keep them at the forefront of our minds.
My journey into the Care Sector started more than 6 years ago, initially working as Agency to see if I was the right fit for care work. I instantly fell in love with all aspects of care and getting the chance to work in difference places, gaining experience and knowledge, working and caring for a variety of people in their homes and in a residential/dementia care setting. I've learnt so much and I completed my NVQ Level 3 and continue to pursue further qualifications.
I enjoy getting to know our residents, learning about them as an individual; their likes, dislikes, and their lives outside the home. I am very passionate about improving the lives of those I support and the importance of continuing their interests.
In my personal life I am very active, with family life and with two Cocker Spaniels, there is never a dull moment. With a passion for adventure and hiking, with water sports thrown in and always up for trying something new. Also a keen photographer, I enjoy getting my camera out to capture moments.
I look forward to welcoming you at Hyacinth, and capturing the moments we create together.

Life at Hyacinth House Care Home
Eveline's (Famous) Christmas ginger trifle recipe!
After hearing about her cherished tradition and the usual request that she brings along her trifle to Christmas events and get togethers, we were excited to know more and try it.
Everyone pitched in to make it under her close eye, lots of laughter and reminiscing of Christmas traditions from over the years took place.
The result was absolutely delicious and did not disappoint!
Special thanks to Eveline for sharing your secret recipe; it will definitely be added to our tradition here at Hyacinth House!
Meet our special guests... Annie & Dainty!
A big thank you to West Hill Donkeys, Weymouth’s award winning beach donkeys for your heart warming visit to our home.
With their festive hats on Annie & Dainty visited our residents, they received cuddles and brought smiles to all our faces.
One of our residents used to own a donkey and was so happy to see them, sharing her stories with us.
Simply adorable!
First Christmas for Hyacinth
Residents are getting festive and a visit to the local Garden Centre always helps. With lights and decorations a plenty. Picking the very first Christmas made it a really special afternoon. It was back to the home to show everyone their wares and get decorating.
Rainy Days and Board Games
When its raining outside what better way to spend the afternoon than Board Games and cake with Friends. The residents at Hyacinth get a little competitive but its all good fun.
A visit from the delightful children from Play Days.
Day 6 of our Countdown to Christmas brought us joy as we were visited by the delightful children from Play Days.
Elf Day at Hyacinth House was filled with festive cheer, Christmas tunes and playtime with colouring, dinosaur and mermaid toys, but the highlight was Margaret's storytelling of "The Happy Reindeer"
Each child received a gift and gave residents hugs and the biscuits went down a treat. Leaving us with big smiles and hearts filled with joy.
A very special thank you to Michelle and Trevor for bringing the children along and for making our residents and the Hyacinth's team day magical. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
The Poppy Appeal is well under way!
We recently received delivery of our poppies from the Royal British Legion and are on display for purchase.
Margaret happens to be quite crafty and was interested in creating some beautiful poppies to add to the selection to help raise funds.
Margaret used the Sizzix machine with special glitter fabrics and then pieced it all together to make these fabulous poppies, the pictures really don't do them justice! We added them to the selection and they were quickly snapped up by residents and staff.
Margaret is thrilled to see everyone wearing them and to know her efforts has raised more funds for such an important charity.
Please stop by if you would like to collect a poppy and make a donation, if you'd like Margaret's special version, please send a message to let us know.
