Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Tammy Carpenter

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Tammy, I am the Activities coordinator. I joined Hyacinth House as one of the Night Seniors, I am so happy and proud to be part of the Hyacinth team.  All my colleagues are so passionate about our journey together and what we are doing, we all share the Barchester values and keep them at the forefront of our minds.

My journey into the Care Sector started more than 6 years ago, initially working as Agency to see if I was the right fit for care work. I instantly fell in love with all aspects of care and getting the chance to work in difference places, gaining experience and knowledge, working and caring for a variety of people in their homes and in a residential/dementia care setting.  I've learnt so much and I completed my NVQ Level 3  and continue to pursue further qualifications.

I enjoy getting to know our residents, learning about them as an individual; their likes, dislikes, and their lives outside the home.  I am very passionate about improving the lives of those I support and the importance of continuing their interests.

In my personal life I am very active, with family life and with two Cocker Spaniels, there is never a dull moment. With a passion for adventure and hiking, with water sports thrown in and always up for trying something new.  Also a keen photographer, I enjoy getting my camera out to capture moments.

I look forward to welcoming you at Hyacinth, and capturing the moments we create together.

Professional Networking Breakfast at Hyacinth House

A big thank you to all that joined us for our first-ever Professionals Breakfast morning.

It was an absolute pleasure for us to meet everyone and to start building valuable connections. Our Chefs did us proud with a delicious breakfast that did not disappoint judging by the wonderful feedback received!

This is a monthly event to come together for some great conversations and to share insights.

We look forward to seeing you again at the next one!

Debbie Brown is our winner of "Name our Communities Competition!"

After much anticipation and some tough decision making, we are thrilled to announce Debbie is our winner of the recent "Name our Communities" competition!

Out of the fantastic suggestions received we chose 'Stour & Avon' and extended this to 'Stour Valley' and 'Avon Walk' to represent our Community names in the home.

Thank you to all that entered and to Debbie for her winning suggestions. Here's a snapshot of our winner receiving her well-deserved Hamper, delivered by our Home Services Advisor Jane. Debbie is the Branch Manager at AE Jolliffe & Son in Ferndown, we included some freshly baked chocolate brownies for her to share with her team.

We hope you love the new names as much as we do!

Surprise for the (Mobile) Dorset NHS Blood Donation Team

Home Services Advisor Jane, delivered surprise gifts of mouth-watering chocolate brownies prepared by our Chefs, plus biscuits, chocolates, refreshing drinks and other goodies to the Team at their Clinic set up in the Allendale Community Centre, Wimborne.

Jane had previously contacted Senior Sister, Louise Easton to arrange this surprise and although she wasn't going to be with them that day, she'd said 'the team love anything sweet' and thanked us for this gesture.

It was a pleasure to meet Mariyana (Nurse in charge), Vanessa, Helen, Claire and all the crew.

The Clinic is set up on arrival at each location and packed away again at the end of the day. As you can see from the picture, it's quite the operation. They work exceptionally hard and long days, bank holidays too!

Their efforts is saving lives, and we’re incredibly grateful for their service to the community and all those giving blood.
Remember that there is always a need for new donors. If you  haven’t already, please consider donating.

Claire advised that anyone wishing to donate, would need to register and book an appointment https://my.blood.co.uk they are scheduled to return to Wimborne, 23rd August and 20th September.
