Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Anna Wasiak

Activities Coordinator

I am a friendly and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator with a passion for working with people and making a positive impact in their lives. I joined Hyacinth House in 2024 as a carer and excited to now be the Activities Coordinator. I have eight years experience in hospitality and three years in floristry. I bring creativity, strong interpersonal skills and a warm welcoming approach to my role. My background has given me the ability to connect with individuals, organise engaging activities, and create meaningful experiences that brighten people’s days. I love inspiring others, fostering a sense of community and bringing joy through thoughtful and inclusive activities.

Did you see the Allendale Centre flowers during the Folk Festival?

Some time ago, we were approached by the Allendale team, asking if we would help them in their mission to cover the entrance with knitted flowers for the festival, we jumped at the chance!

Residents visited the centre and were delighted to see their handiwork as part of the colourful display, we thoroughly enjoyed making them during our 'knit and natters'.

Carers Support Dorset

Our Home Services Advisor, Jane Shanahan was delighted to support ‘Carer Support Dorset’ today with our sister home Parley Place Care Home - Barchester Healthcare - connecting carers event in Ferndown to launch carers support week.

We recently had the pleasure of Amanda Eames from Beyond Me to come and speak with our residents and community about her unique platform BeyondMe. Here is the Snapshot of her meeting Arthur with who is a resident at Hyacinth House.  What an amazing man with a passion for steam trains.

Knoll Gardens

With the wonderful weather, we have been enjoying outdoor life. Activities Co-ordinator and staff decided to take our enthusiastic gardeners on a trip to Knoll Gardens.

Our residents had a fantastic time walking through the various themed gardens and brought more ideas and suggestions on what to introduce to our outside space at Hyacinth House.

Barney's first outing!

We had a wonderful surprise recently when little Barney popped in to see us, for an impromptu visit. Val and Ben are friends of Hyacinth House and the proud owners of baby pygmy goats, they will be training them as therapy goats to visit homes such as ours.

As they are close by and were taking Barney out for the first time they called in to us to see how he copes with new surroundings. Well there was no need to be worried he took it all in his stride, calm and confident and so well behaved surprising us all. Residents thought their eyes were deceiving them when he walked in reception, he certainly stole our hearts!

Thank you Val and Ben for visiting, we are excited to see the progress of Barney's training and future visits!
