Activities at Juniper House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Juniper House Care Home

Children In Need Pyjama Day!

Our staff and residents wore their favourite pyjamas all day to help fundraise for BBC’s Children in Need. We decided to do something different to help raise awareness and make some money for the charity. Everyone had a fun day and we even made the papers!

Thank you to all those who donated, we raised £50.35 altogether!

Barchester's Charitable Foundation awards The Valentines Club

We recently presented The Valentines Club with a cheque for £535 to contribute to their members December outing. The Valentine Club, in Steeple Aston, dates to 1952 when a group of “seniors” decided to get together on an informal basis to have a chat and provide some of their own entertainment.

The grant had been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales by offering grants to help people connect or re-connect with others in their local community. The Valentines club meets on each third Tuesday of the month in the Village Hall where we are entertained by singers, dancers and speakers and focus on helping those in the community make new friends. The Club also helps to provide information on health care and benefits.

The Valentines Club welcomed Juniper House staff and residents to their November meeting where they presented the cheque. Everyone enjoyed watching The Bicester U3A Ukulele Group perform followed by tea and cake!

Richard Prexon, Chairman of The valentines Club, mentioned how lovely Juniper Houses residents and staff were and thanked Barchester for the donation during a small speech before the live music started.

Outing to a local coffee shop

We boarded our mini bus and travelled the short journey to a new and modern coffee shop in our community for some coffee and cake. It was a beautiful autumn day and the ladies especially enjoyed the delicious cakes and milky lattes. The staff made us feel very welcome and we will definitely return on a future outing!

Outing to Chacombe Park Care Home

It was great to see our friends at Chacombe Park Care Home this month. We boarded the mini bus and drove the lovely country route to Banbury to have a nice afternoon with our friends that we often see at the Dementia Community Choir. Two of our residents loved driving past the village they used to live in. Next time we plan to meet up with Chacombe Park, they are visiting us for some tea and cake.

Open Day

Our open day was a wonderful success! We opened our doors to the community to showcase our home. We loved meeting new people and showing them around our home.

We held a Coffee Morning where everyone enjoyed socialising over a cup of tea and some delicious cakes hand made by the kitchen team.
