Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

World Maritime Day visit to Falmouth

To honor World Maritime Day, we set sail on an adventure to the stunning Falmouth Harbour. Our residents enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the promenade, enjoying the sea breeze and the sound of the waves, taking in the views of all the boats and activity in the harbour. We also stopped at a local coffee shop for a hot cuppa along the way.

Did you know? World Maritime Day celebrates the vital role that shipping and seafarers play in global trade. It's a day to recognise the maritime industry's contributions to our world, just as we recognise the beauty and serenity of our beloved Falmouth Harbour.

A selection of weird and wonderful creatures visit Kenwyn

We were graced with a visit from some exquisite creatures that brought joy and smiles to the faces of our beloved residents. Our special guests included a tortoise, a snake, a rabbit, and a bearded dragon. The sheer magnificence of these animals was truly captivating as we engaged with them, learning more about them and their importance in nature. It was a day filled with fun and excitement that we won't soon forget!

Phil and Junes 60th Wedding Anniversary

Lovely news alert!

Phil and June Parker have been married for 60 years!

Yes, that’s right, they have reached their very special Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

We were very lucky to welcome June to Kenwyn for a Respite stay. Phil visited her each day and they are a truly lovely couple.

When a little bird told us that their 60th Anniversary was approaching and would fall during Junes stay with us, we put together a small celebration and welcomed a group of their family and friends. Phil and June weren’t interested in a fuss, so the occasion was respectful of their wishes and a small and intimate affair.

It was heart-warming for us to be able to put together this private celebration for them and their loved ones.

National Housekeeping Week

As National Housekeeping week draws to close we want to recognise our entire Housekeeping team and the hard work they do.

The week-long celebration has gained popularity throughout the world since it started in 1981. Housekeeping week has been a week that aims to recognise the hard work of housekeepers and rightly so!

Housekeeping is at the core of all we do and on that note, we would like to extend a huge thank you to Housekeeping teams all over, but especially ours!

Here’s a photo of Rosie and Marlene who are part of the team, receiving flowers and thanks!

THANK YOU!

Music Therapy

Our residents absolutely love music, and last week, we had another fantastic music therapy session with Melanie!

During the session, everyone got to interact and participate in the songs with a wide range of instruments. Melanie, with her guitar and harmonica, sang her heart out and personally connected with each member of our audience.

It was a hear twarming and engaging afternoon that brought smiles to everyone's faces. Music truly has a way of uniting us and creating unforgettable moments!

Arts and Crafts at Kenwyn

Arts and crafts are a much loved pastime of our residents, especially as we've been keeping busy during these chilly days. Our residents love expressing their creativity through painting, drawing, colouring and crafting, and more importantly, the chats and social interactions during the sessions. We also watched 50s and 60s music videos during one of the painting sessions, which the residents thoroughly enjoyed, listening and singing along while getting their creative juices flowing! Happy faces and some beautiful creations are the result of these art sessions.
