Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Community Companion - Geri and BT

Life within Kenwyn provides many, daily, heartwarming moments & we aren’t always ready to capture them to share them with you, but today was different.

We have partnered with BT who, in recent years started a volunteer initiative known as Community Companion. BT employees volunteer to spend time on the phone with a resident at Kenwyn and have a good old chat.

Here you can see Geri, deep in conversation with his new contact at BT. Geri, listened, chatted about the past and laughed for half an hour and really enjoyed himself.

If you think your relative living at Kenwyn would benefit from this experience, drop us an email below and we will set it up.

Eric presents Elaine with her well deserved reward

Lorraine Billington is one of Kenwyn’s Senior Carer’s.

She is one of the hardest working people we know and a wonderful role model.

Kind, Caring and inspiring, Lorraine is a highly regarded and much loved member of the staff team.

This month she is our Employee of the Month and here we can see her and Kenwyn resident Eric who is presenting her with her certificate. Eric also nominated Lorraine and he was honoured to recognise her in this way. Eric had prepared a speech for Lorraine which told her how much she deserved her award as well as thanking her for her hard work and dedication.

Thank you Lorraine for all you do.

Heartwarming Therapy dog visit

This week, we had a heartwarming visit from a very special guest... Holly, the therapy dog! Holly, with her gentle and friendly nature, brightened our residents' day by paying visits to their rooms, greeting them with warm hellos and soft cuddles.
Therapy dogs like Holly play a vital role in our care home community. Their presence brings comfort, companionship, and a sense of connection to our residents. The joy they bring is palpable, and we're incredibly grateful for these furry ambassadors of happiness.

Kenwyn residents visit Malpas park

We took a trip to Malpas Gardens last week, taking advantage of the beautiful, yet out of the ordinary, October sunshine! Our residents thoroughly enjoyed strolling through the greens, taking in the beauty of the flowers and trees, and enjoying the crisp fresh air. They even enjoyed some playful moments in the recreation area, reminding us that there's a little bit of child in us all!

Arm Chair Yoga at Kenwyn!

At Kenwyn, we believe in nurturing the well-being of our residents, and one fantastic way we do this is through Chair Yoga! Chair Yoga is a practice that offers our residents the opportunity to enhance their flexibility, build strength, and experience deep relaxation, all from the comfort of their chairs.

With gentle stretches and mindful movements, our residents are encouraged to find renewed energy and a sense of inner calm. It's an inclusive practice that's perfect for all fitness levels and abilities, and it brings the added benefit of promoting mental clarity and reducing stress.

There were big smiles and lots of positive energy in our session, and we're incredibly proud of our residents for their commitment to holistic well-being.
