Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Arm Chair Yoga at Kenwyn!

At Kenwyn, we believe in nurturing the well-being of our residents, and one fantastic way we do this is through Chair Yoga! Chair Yoga is a practice that offers our residents the opportunity to enhance their flexibility, build strength, and experience deep relaxation, all from the comfort of their chairs.

With gentle stretches and mindful movements, our residents are encouraged to find renewed energy and a sense of inner calm. It's an inclusive practice that's perfect for all fitness levels and abilities, and it brings the added benefit of promoting mental clarity and reducing stress.

There were big smiles and lots of positive energy in our session, and we're incredibly proud of our residents for their commitment to holistic well-being.

Indoor Gardening

Last week we immersed ourselves in the therapeutic world of gardening, carefully potting beautiful flowers. It was a wonderful experience allowing us a closer connection with the beauty of nature.

Each resident lovingly potted their own flower, creating a vibrant addition to their window sills. Some even chose to place them outside their windows, where they can witness the blossoming in our beautiful gardens.

While we gardened, we shared tips and fond memories of tending to gardens in days gone by. It was a heart warming opportunity to connect, learn from each other, and relive the joys of gardening. Now, we eagerly await the flourishing of our beautiful flowers, excited to see how they will grow and bloom.

World Maritime Day visit to Falmouth

To honor World Maritime Day, we set sail on an adventure to the stunning Falmouth Harbour. Our residents enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the promenade, enjoying the sea breeze and the sound of the waves, taking in the views of all the boats and activity in the harbour. We also stopped at a local coffee shop for a hot cuppa along the way.

Did you know? World Maritime Day celebrates the vital role that shipping and seafarers play in global trade. It's a day to recognise the maritime industry's contributions to our world, just as we recognise the beauty and serenity of our beloved Falmouth Harbour.

A selection of weird and wonderful creatures visit Kenwyn

We were graced with a visit from some exquisite creatures that brought joy and smiles to the faces of our beloved residents. Our special guests included a tortoise, a snake, a rabbit, and a bearded dragon. The sheer magnificence of these animals was truly captivating as we engaged with them, learning more about them and their importance in nature. It was a day filled with fun and excitement that we won't soon forget!

Phil and Junes 60th Wedding Anniversary

Lovely news alert!

Phil and June Parker have been married for 60 years!

Yes, that’s right, they have reached their very special Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

We were very lucky to welcome June to Kenwyn for a Respite stay. Phil visited her each day and they are a truly lovely couple.

When a little bird told us that their 60th Anniversary was approaching and would fall during Junes stay with us, we put together a small celebration and welcomed a group of their family and friends. Phil and June weren’t interested in a fuss, so the occasion was respectful of their wishes and a small and intimate affair.

It was heart-warming for us to be able to put together this private celebration for them and their loved ones.

National Housekeeping Week

As National Housekeeping week draws to close we want to recognise our entire Housekeeping team and the hard work they do.

The week-long celebration has gained popularity throughout the world since it started in 1981. Housekeeping week has been a week that aims to recognise the hard work of housekeepers and rightly so!

Housekeeping is at the core of all we do and on that note, we would like to extend a huge thank you to Housekeeping teams all over, but especially ours!

Here’s a photo of Rosie and Marlene who are part of the team, receiving flowers and thanks!

THANK YOU!
