Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Our LOVE of Animals...

We wanted to show you what we got up to when we went along with our generous donations of animal food & equipment, donated by friends and family and staff of Kings Park, as well our lovely new friends over at the Castleman Community Larder, on our visit to drop everything off at Margaret Green Animal Rescue Centre in Church Knowle...

Upon our arrival at the Rescue Centre, we received a very warm welcome from the incredible staff there, before the lovely Liz gave us a full guided tour, meeting many of the animals that they help.

Goats, pigs, donkeys, horses & ponies, rabbits, pigs, chickens and more!

Not only did we see these amazing animals, but the countryside in which the Centre is set, is absolutely stunning! We urge you to head to their facebook page and take a look at all they do, then check their opening times and pop on over and see for yourself, as they are open to the public too.

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who donated and for helping the animals receive a little love this Valentines' season.

Check out the the photo of the very photogenic horse, Rocky, who even smiled for a picture with our residents!

Feel the LOVE!

The residents at Kings Park had a wonderful afternoon full of fun, games and love in honour of St. Valentine...

During our afternoon full of LOVE, there was lots of music, accompanied by some bubbles (which then lead on to an impromptu sing-along of 'I'm forever blowing bubbles'...). before ending the afternoon exercising the grey matter...

Residents were tasked with brain storming as many famous duos/couples as they could think of and they certainly made a very impressive list!

Everyone from Romeo & Juliet, Tom & Jerry, Morecambe & Wise to Charles & Camilla, as well as Torville & Dean and Ant & Dec - The list went on and on!

From everyone here in the home, we are sending you all our love this Valentines season.

Flipping Fun!

Thinking outside of the box, was the name of the game recently here at Kings Park...

Residents joined together this afternoon for a fun game or two of 'Flipping Pancakes', yet not in the traditional sense!

The aim of the game was to match the numbered pancakes with their twin.

The winner was the one who matched the most!

Take a look at how they got on.

Community Larder

We recently linked in with some lovely new friends over at The Castleman Community Larder in West Moors...

If you haven't heard about the incredible work they do over there to help their local community, then follow the links above and go and see for yourself!

The wonderful Michelle who runs the larder, along with her incredible parents, Margaret & Noel and the army of volunteers, have really got behind our campaign to show rescue animals some love this Valentine's season.

So we recently took some residents along to the larder to collect some food items donated for the animal residents over at Margaret Green Animal Rescue, which is where we headed after our visit to the larder.

Margaret was on hand at the larder to do a handover of items before we headed off for some animal adventures to drop off all we had collected. (More on this later on in the week...)

A MASSIVE THANK YOU to Michelle and co for being so generous and helpful in our plight to show some love to our furry friends.

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside...

Some of our residents ventured out on the minibus recently for a delightful trip to see the sea...

It might be the middle of winter, however that didn't deter our intrepid explorers as they set off for an afternoon outing to see the ocean blue!

First on the agenda was lovely drive around Holes Bay, before heading over to Sands Banks for parking up near to Rick Steins' restaurant, whilst enjoying a yummy ice-cream in the warm of the minibus looking out across the bay.

It was a lovely opportunity to get out of the home and enjoy the local scenery.

Come on and do the Conga!

We recently mentioned what we got up whilst we were waiting for our shortbread to bake in the oven, whiling away the time with some music and singing, but that's not all we got up to...

One of our wonderful residents, Denise, took it upon herself to start a conga line, and who are we to say no to a conga?!

Much to everyone's amusement we danced our way around the dining room, kicking our legs as we went. Talk about an impromptu dancing session!

Suffice to say, that everyone really enjoyed their afternoon, which was then finished off by sampling some of the delicious shortbread we had baked - Yum!
