Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Kings Park Care Home
World Book Day Wonders!
On world book day many of the staff were in awe as they spotted many lovely costumes of the children on the school run as they made their way into Kings Park this morning.
There was Dennis the Menace, and countless kids dressed as Harry Potter, eager to get into school and show off their costumes - It was a lovely sight to see!
That being said, here at Kings Park today the residents didn't miss out either, as they welcomed some very special visitors into our home this morning...
Our weekly mother & toddler group, Kings Kids, also delighted many of the residents at their session today as they all dressed up as their favourite characters from books!
We had a fireman Sam, PC Plod, a fairy, a tiger and LOTS of lovely characters from Disney's Frozen too.
The residents have LOVED seeing so many of them dressed up for the occasion and it has certainly made everyone smile today!
What was your favourite childhood book?
A Lovely Bus Trip
Residents truly love nothing more that getting out and about in our beautiful county of Dorset, with so many places to go and lovely things to see...
Rather annoyingly, when our intrepid explorers went out last week, the weather was not the greatest, but that didn't deter them!
They still enjoyed the change of scene and the view from the bus windows, despite the rather soggy weather.
Waiting at the end of their journey, was a fabulous tea room and shop to explore at Compton Acres, where everyone enjoyed some delicious cake and a lovely, well-deserved cuppa.
When you live in Great Britain, it's amazing how we never let a little thing, like a spot of rain, stop us from having a wonderful day!
Andy the Accordion Man...
Music is such a great way to bring people together and we have proof!
The very wonderful and talented, Andy, recently paid us a visit here at Kings Park and not only did all the residents all join together to listen in appreciation to his musical stylings, but several family members also came along and joined us too.
Playing many well known and well-loved tunes from times gone by, there was singing and dancing aplenty up in the Memory Lane lounge where everyone had gathered.
Such a fabulous time was had by all.
THANK YOU, ANDY - We hope to see you again very soon.
Bee Chumley Sings...
The ever fabulous Bee Chumley Vocalist was back in action at the home recently, donning yet another of her many wonderful dresses as she entertained...
With her new-look floral microphone stand (which impressed many of our residents), Bee sang for many of our residents who had gathered together in our orangery area to listen with fascination as she sang some of their favourite songs from yesteryear.
THANK YOU, Bee, for another wonderful morning of music & song.
The Gardening Gang!
Last week the residents & staff were outside watching and helping out as they were very excited to welcome a fabulous group of gardening volunteers into our home...
With the doldrums of the winter months upon us, it was time to start readying our garden for some spring/summer planting and tidy things up a bit, all in a bid to get our back garden looking a little smarter and ready for the sunny weather ahead, for our residents to enjoy.
A little help was required in order to do this, so up steps the fabulous, Kevin Steele and his wonderful Gardening gang from the local U3A, as well as some of the lovely family & friends of Kings Park's residents, who VERY kindly volunteered their time to help - MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!
Everyone worked so, so hard for several hours and the garden is looking all the more delightful already because of everyone's efforts.
Pop and take a look next time you get the chance - There's injections of colour already there and much, much more to look forward to when things start to grow!
Special mentions to: -
Kevin, who very kindly brought in with him some rose bushes to plant, as well as some bulbs which have now gone in.
Anne and her wonderful husband, who very thoughtfully brought in their trailer to take away all the clippings to the dump for us.
Finally, but by no means least, EVERYONE else, who came along to support us, giving us the most precious gift of all; their time.
THANK YOU ALL, SO, SO MUCH!
Smiley, Happy People!
Another truly lovely day as we welcomed our young friends from over the road for a spot of reading with our residents!
So wonderful to see them all interacting with everyone here at Kings Park and spreading so much joy in our home.
Thank you Ferndown First School for another fabulous reading session! Your children do you all proud.
