Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey
Hello, I am Angela the Activities Lead.
I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.
With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!
During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Kings Park Care Home

Singing with Tony
Residents were recently entertained by the lovely Tony Edwards, who came along to sing for everyone here on our Memory Lane floor...
Tony also happens to be related to one of our lovely residents, Wynford, who was delighted to see some family, as well as enjoy some wonderful music and song from yesteryear!
Thank you, Tony!

Roady Visits...
Pet therapy is everything to the residents here at Kings Park and they really enjoy the visits from Roady, our therapy dog...
Roady brings the lovely Terry along to our home with him and together they go on a wander with the lovely Lauren, our Activities Lead, to hunt down all the dog lovers in the home, of which there are many!
The sheer joy he brings when they see him and in return, he is often given the odd treat by some of the residents he meets, as a thank you for his visit.
Thank you, Roady & Terry - Long may the visits continue!

Songs of Parise & Joy!
What a way to start an afternoon, with a very special visit from some youngsters who are clearly bringing joy and happiness to our community this summer in a variety of ways...
We were joined by the children's summer club from Sunnyhill Church Ferndown, and boy were we pleased that they came to see us!
It was explained to us that the children, who are all on their summer break from school, had spent the past couple of days working hard and giving back to the community in a variety of ways; gardening & weeding, painting planters and also through their song and dance, which is what they offered to us upon their visit.
There were so many smiles and such a presence of joy that they brought to the home as they sang, clapped and wiggled through their songs, for which we are VERY grateful for indeed.
Thank you all for such wonderful singing and movement - The residents have not stopped smiling since you left!
You are all welcome back and visit any time!
WELL DONE Sunny Hill Church for all your efforts and for making our community a wonderful place for all - Young & old!

Balloon Tennis Fun!
What a wonderful afternoon we had recently up on our first floor...
The aim of the game was to get the blood pumping and spread some smiles - Something that we were easily able to achieve!
It was one side of the lounge vs. the other and it got pretty fierce at times, as our residents became very competitive.
Nothing brings a laugh and some fun, like a good old game of balloon tennis - Great for our fitness too!

Quiz Master Extraordinaire!
The fantastic Ollie was on hand recently to host a fabulous Pub Quiz evening for some of our lovely Kings Park residents...
With our ground floor lounge, turned into a make-shift pub for the evening, word soon got out and there was a wonderful gathering of residents who turned up to take part, before forming smaller groups so they could work together and try and beat off the competition!
Ollie, being the very prepared Quiz Master that he was, created a fantastic quiz with something for everybody and even used modern technology and projected questions onto the big screen for all to see.
There was beer, cider and wine available for all, along with the obligatory bar snacks - crisps being the favourite, which they enjoyed very much. (There was, of course, non-alcoholic drinks also available too.)
The team names were: -
The duffers (Their choice!)
The Twinkle Toes
Charlie's Angels
Another Level
It was a very close match, but it was The Twinkle Toes who finally pipped The Duffers to the top spot - Better luck next time The Duffers, but big congratulations to The Twinkle Toes!

Birthday Celebrations!
Here at Kings Park we recently welcomed the lovely Sheila's friends and family into our home for her wonderful birthday party...
Along with Sheila's family & friends, there were also lots of younger family who were all around to wish Sheila many happy returns of the day, much to her delight! The residents at Kings Park were utter delighted to watch the younger ones playing and giggling.
There was a wonderful afternoon tea provided by our wonderful chef, Wyn, who also made Sheila a delicious cake to share with everyone too.
We were so glad to welcome you all here in our home and we hope you all had the very best day with all your nearest and dearest, lovely Sheila.
CHEERS to many more fun-filled birthdays!
