Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey

Activities Lead

Hello,  I am Angela the Activities Lead.

I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.

With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!

During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Fun & Games!

With the weather not at it's best last week, our outdoor games came inside for some dry rainy day fun...

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of skittles, giant jenga, bean bag toss and lots more!

There were many looks of concentration on their faces as they worked to give their very best shots as they threw, removed jenga bricks and gave their best aim.

Take a look at some of the pictures we managed to take, including some brilliant action shots of the jenga tower as it was about to topple!

What a brilliant way to spend a dark, soggy afternoon - There were many smiles as a result!

Reading Buddies Back in Action!

Recently, we saw the wonderful return of our friends from Ferndown First School...

Reading leaders from the school were welcomed here at Kings Park and paired off with our residents, so that they might practice their reading.

Our residents have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and raved about their visit in it's aftermath.

The children's confidence appears to have grown exponentially, even in the short time they were here in our company.

We are excited for more of these sessions and very much look forward to seeing these wonderful children again very soon!

THANK YOU FERNDOWN FIRST SCHOOL - What wonderful readers you produce!

The Lady Who Started it All!

Is Anne Anderson the most kind hearted lady in the world?

WE THINK SO!

With a regular Chitter Chatter Club (The Chitter Chatter Club page) happening here in our home every Tuesday morning from 10.30am - 12pm, we were delighted to welcome the Anne, the lady whose brainchild it was, to come along and join us for a recent session.

Anne has set up Chiitter Chatter Clubs in various locations in Dorset in a bid to end loneliness in our communities, and she makes a wonderful ambassador to this effect.

Some of our local Barchester Healthcare homes, Hyacinth House Care Home - Barchester Healthcare & Parley Place Care Home - Barchester Healthcare will also be hosting their own Chitter Chatter clubs too, with a big launch party planned for November - SO WATCH THIS SPACE.

If you would like to come along on a Tuesday morning to our group, then you will be very welcome to come along for a cuppa, some cake and even better company. These groups are completely FREE of charge, so spread the word!

Welcome to our Family!

Recently we welcomed two new faces to our team here at Kings Park...

The very lovely Rose & Katie, join us every other week for some volunteering in our home, and come to us from Ferndown Upper School.

Both girls are currently studying double Health & Social Care and are looking to gain some work experience alongside our home activities team.

Katie, who is considering her future as either an occupational therapist or a midwife, loves to cook and bake; in particular she likes to make celebration drip cakes - Yum! She also has a cava-poo called Daisy.

Rose, is also considering midwifery for a career and loves to read romance novels, but she also has FIVE dogs called: Whispa, Nala, Nancy, Brutus & Dolly - Four Jack Russells and a Lurcher - That's a lot of dog walking!

WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY GIRLS! We are thrilled to have you onboard and look forward to getting to know you both.

Kings Park Celebrates 2nd Birthday!

Recently here at Kings Park, we celebrated a very special occasion - Our 2nd birthday!  So, to mark the event, we threw a wonderful birthday bash...

We invited family, friends, and the local community to come in and join us for a wonderful afternoon of fun, music, food, drink and great company.

We were so grateful to everyone who came and supported this event and so very glad that you could come along.

Huge thanks to our local Mayor, Krissy Stamp, who really got behind Eric's Epic Walk earlier on in the year and this was greatly appreciated by us, but not lot of all, Eric.

Avonwood School

With schools up and down the country all having gone back and settling down for the year ahead, our friends over at Avonwood Primary School have been busy making lots of wonderful plans for us to be involved with...

Kings Park were very excited to recently welcome Avonwood's Deputy Head, Kim Williams, into the home to discuss how we can work together for the future.

Upon arrival, Kim very kindly brought a wonderful bouquet of flowers and some delicious biscuits for our residents to enjoy - Pictured here with resident, Phyllis.

After a very successful meeting, King's Park will be linking in with the school for arts week, World Book day, World Poetry day and much, much more! Along with all this we will also receive further visits from the school for Christmas carolling, Christmas Jumper day, reading groups etc. So we have much to look forward to!

These kinds of intergenerational activities as so mutually beneficial for all concerned and we are excited will all these exciting times we have ahead.

Children spread so much joy amongst our residents and long may these links continue.

THANK YOU Avonwood for the kindness you have already afforded everyone here at King's Park.
