Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey

Activities Lead

Hello,  I am Angela the Activities Lead.

I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.

With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!

During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

What a Day!

Barchester are all about celebrating life...

However, here at Kings Park today we were not only celebrating life recently, but also all that our beautiful home has to offer!

It's was our open day and Deputy Manager, Sarah and Home Services Advisor, Rebekah were on stand-by to welcome new visitors into the home, where they could sample some delicious homemade treats and take a tour.

What a very busy and successful day it was - Pop by and see us sometime if you haven't already!

HAIR-PPY BIRTHDAY CAROL!

Residents who were around for this week's hairdressing appointments here in the home, will know that a certain someone was celebrating her special day in our company...

Our fabulous hairdresser, Carol, who regularly does an incredible job making our residents look a million dollars, was celebrating her birthday this week, so we were very pleased when our residents were able to surprise her with a special card and present as we also wished her many happy returns of the day.

Thank you, Carol - You are a star and we are so lucky to have you!

The Hills Are Alive...

Residents here at Kings Park were loving the afternoon matinee recently...

After much discussion of what they wanted to watch, it was determined that a musical was the order of the day!

So after many options were given, they finally decided that 'The Sound of Music' was just the ticket to lift the spirits of us all.

True to form, it only took a few opening bars of the theme tune when the film started, as Julie Andrews appeared atop a mountain in the Austrian Alps, before there was a collective chorus of;  'The hills are alive with the sound of music....'

Just this opening scene caused many giggles & smiles amongst the residents.

Part way through, members of the Kings Park staff arrived with some extra special refreshments; a glass of sparkling fizz and some delicious cake - both were much appreciated by all.

What a fantastic afternoon of music, songs and merriment for all involved.

We may have seen this a few times, but it's appeal never gets old!

What's your favourite musical?

All Eastered Out!

What a fantastic Easter we have had here at Kings Park...

We have had so many lovely family and friends in to see us over the Easter weekend, which we always enjoy here in the home.

Residents and guests helped to hunt out Easter eggs in our garden Easter egg hunt, which everyone loved.

With the Easter Bunny very tired after delivering so many eggs this year, we got a little help from some of the younger visitors to the home, who were on hand to deliver some special Easter treats to all our residents, much to their delight!
