Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Angela Cawsey

Activities Lead

Hello,  I am Angela the Activities Lead.

I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.

With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!

During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Kings Park Care Home

Welcome to Megan!

Here at Kings Park we are saying 'Hello' and 'welcome' to our newest volunteer from Ferndown Upper School...

The fabulous Megan!

Megan has big aspirations to work in neuroscience, with a special interest in working towards making life better for those living with dementia, which she has personal experience of and this is her main drive.

A big sports lover, Megan loves to regularly play football, but she now very much is looking forwards to spending some time helping our residents with a variety of activities here in our home and we are all excited to get to know Megan too.

Thank you for joining our Kings Park family, Megan, you are so welcome!

Chitter Chatter Club

We have recently joined forces with the fabulous Anne Anderson from The Chitter Chatter Club page in order to combat loneliness in our local community.

So every Tuesday morning our residents all get together for a cup of tea and a good old natter, inviting anyone from our wider community to come along and join us.

EVERYONE is very welcome indeed to come and join us for this, so if you know of anyone locally who would like to come along and benefit from a morning of great company and companionship, then please encourage them to come along to this FREE event.

EVERY TUESDAY MORNING - 10.30AM - 12PM

We would love to see you!

Here are some pictures from last week's club, where everyone got chatting about yesteryear, thanks to some wonderful sheets with conversation starters.

Tickling The Ivories!

Residents had a wonderful morning earlier on this week, when they were entertained by the very talented, Alan Poulton...

Alan, who is a classically trained pianist, is very popular with residents from all floors, playing some of the well know classics, such as The Blue Danube and Fϋr Elise, as well as pieces from some of the popular musicals; I could have danced all night - My Fair Lady and Edelweiss - The Sound of Music.

The residents were in their element, singing and clapping along!

In between songs, Alan chatted about their memories of the songs and reminisced along with them.

Thank you Alan for another incredible visit - We hope to see you again very soon!

Pam's Special Trip

One of the best things about working in care is the lovely things we get to do to make our residents smile...

At Barchester Healthcare we love to help residents to 'Celebrate Life' and we recently made one amazing lady's wishes come true with a very special day trip, allowing her to step back into some of her most valued memories, by taking her back to a special place.

St Michaels Church Colehill, holds a very special place in the lovely Pam's heart; it was the very church where Pam was christened, where she married her late husband and also where she worshipped for many years and devoted much of her time as a volunteer.

Pam's smile was a mile wide when we were able to be welcomed into the church by the wonderful and very hospitable, Rev. Suzy, who showed us around and even posed for some photos by the very font where Pam was christened.

Thank you, Suzy for the very warm welcome and the very much appreciated refreshments - You have made Pam's year!

Book Worms!

Some of our residents really love a good book! So we thought we would do something special for our lovely book worms...

Acting in response to this, we would now like to showcase to you the Kings Park Book Exchange!

So, if you or any friends and family have any unwanted books/magazines that you would like to donate or exchange, then we will happily take them off your hands.

Our book exchange is situated in our orangery area on our ground floor - Come and take a look for yourself.

Pictured is the wonderful Pat, who is already enjoying what our Book Exchange has to offer!

A New Sheriff in Town...

Kings Park recently received a very special guest into their home...

The new High Sheriff of Dorset, Colin Weston and his his lovely wife, Ruth, were both invited to come and join the residents for a delicious high tea laid on by our wonderful in-house Chef, Wyn.

Colin and Ruth were both welcomed by our new General Manager, Sebastian and by Senior General Manager, Sohail, before being introduced to all of the awaiting residents.

Sitting down to tea and delicious homemade cakes and finger sandwiches in such esteemed company is not a bad way to while away an afternoon!

Thank you Colin and Ruth for joining us here at Kings Park - You are very welcome back any time!
