Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

Tour de Barchester

Barchester care homes up and down the country have been taking part in a grueling 211 mile cycling challenge from Bradford to London to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, which supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.

Over four days, from July 5th- 8th, the team will cycle from Yorkshire to London, stopping at 15 care homes and one hospital across all four of Barchester’s divisions to meet well-wishers, have a well-earned break and refuel before continuing on their way.

Here at Kings Park, we wish them all the luck and have been cheering them on with regular updates from the Tour de Barchester team. Good luck and well done.

World Chocolate Day

We had a lip smacking and full on chocolate taster quiz today, which not only tested us and broadened our knowledge of chocolate but also entailed the very difficult task of identifying various different chocolate bars by….well quite simply eating them!

Well done to our remarkable tasters who are all clearly very knowledgeable about our favourite chocs. It was a difficult task…but someone had to do it!

One to One Shopping Trips

One of the fabulous draws to Kings Park is that we are so close to Ferndown Centre, we can take residents out to do a bit of shopping, visit the library or have a cuppa in a café any day of the week. This is particularly important for supporting independence, something we take very seriously.

Here is Sheila on her trip to the shops with our Activities Coordinator Kathy, just to pick up a few favourite treats and to enjoy meeting our local community.

Ball Boy Roady!

Today, our fabulous Caring Canine, Roady, not only visited our residents and made some huge smiles.…he also showed us that it is indeed possible to pick up and hold not one but TWO tennis balls at the same time! !

Roady would be a great Ball Boy at #wimbledon2022 !

Open Day

All ready for our Open Day!

Wyn, our Chef has baked some favourite treats for everyone. The Café is looking fabulous and the aroma of freshly baked cookies and chocolate profiteroles has spread around the home!

If you’re in the area, why not stop by for coffee and cake and a chat about our beautiful home.

Strawberries & Cream

It might sound like a cliché but our residents do love a competitive game of Bingo now and again and what better way to enjoy a win than with a cooling bowl of strawberries and cream!

Wimbledon fun is also happening in our home this week and next so rackets at the ready for some big matches to come!
