Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

Life at Kings Park Care Home

Autumnal Fun

We welcomed our newest resident this week - please say 'Hello' to Sam the Scarecrow!

With all the rain and wind over the last few days, the residents stayed in the warm and enjoyed various autumnal-themed activities, and making Sam was a favourite.

Unfortunately, due to the amount of straw Sam was dropping, our Housekeeper, Jo, decided he would need to reside in our garden gazebo, and can be seen waving off the pigeons to stop them landing.

Off to the Beach

What better way could there be to spend a warm late September afternoon than an enjoyable minibus trip to the beach?

It was our very first trip in the Kings Park minibus, and we headed off to Branksome Chine for a lovely stroll along the promenade and a glass of chilled rose wine while we watched some yachts out at sea.

Our activities schedule has been very busy ever since we opened our doors to residents just two weeks ago, and Hannah, our Activities Coordinator, has lots of special ideas planned for October.

Neighbourly Spirit

A local residence of Ferndown, Turbary Court, planned their first post-COVID afternoon tea get together, so our Head Chef decided to bake them a lovely Victoria sponge for the occasion.

Our Home Services Advisor, Lucy, delivered the cake to resident Jill, wishing them a lovely afternoon event and inviting them to the Community Café that is held at Kings Park on the third Tuesday of every month.

We Are Now Open

Our beautiful home was officially opened by local businessman, communicator and facilitator, Paul Kinvig, who gave a heart-warming speech on the meaning and importance of community, which is at the heart of Kings Park’s ethos.

Thank you to all the local professionals and businesses who joined us in making the day so special! Our catering team provided a rich array of canapés and made a beautiful cake for the occasion. Dorset harpist, Lizzie Peacock, played some beautiful music that was enjoyed by everyone.

To make the day even more special, a little later, our very first resident cut the ribbon as she was welcomed into Kings Park by all the team!

We are all so proud of our home and delighted to now be welcoming residents for permanent and respite stays.

The Minibus Arrives

August has been very exciting at Kings Park! Our brand new minibus has arrived and our General Manager, Helen, couldn't wait to beep the horn and take it for a spin! (No speed limits were exceeded!).

The minibus is going to be so exciting for our residents, as we will be able to plan trips and outings for up to seven days a week. Even a quick shopping trip to our local supermarket that many of our residents have possibly shopped in for years.

Our Founding Members will have the fun in deciding a name for the minibus but for now, we have named it 'KP'.
