Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

Creature Comforts

We have had some extremely ‘VIP’ visitors today at Kings Park!

Jade from The Creature Teachers brought along some of her incredibly beautiful exotic pets and our residents loved meeting them and listening to all of Jade’s amazing knowledge about each one.

Our residents loved being close and personal with all of Jade’s animals and there were some very special moments.

We are delighted to be supporting, alongside our sister home Barchester Healthcare Moors Manor, St Martins URC, with their West Moors Christmas Tree Festival this week. Entry is free but all voluntary donations will go to Macmillan Caring Locally based at Christchurch Hospital and to the British Heart Foundation. If you can, pop down to see them!

International Carers Rights Day

We were delighted to support 'International Carers Rights Day' being celebrated by Prama in the Allendale Centre in Wimborne on Thursday 25th November 2021!

Along with Barchester Healthcare Moors Manor and Barchester Healthcare Upton Bay we were available for carers to pop by, have a chat and pick up a few goodies! It was lovely to say hello to those we already know and to see new faces.

Chilled Evenings

What better way to wind down in these chilly evenings than to put your feet up and listen to the talented pianist Mark Bussell play all our favourite pieces of music from loved TV programmes to West End hits.

Shopping for Christmas Decorations

What better way to start preparing for Christmas than a trip to Haskins Garden Centre for each of our residents to purchase a decoration for our Christmas Tree!

We have had to split the trips over a few weeks as our minibus isn’t the Tardis! Here are our first group who chose some lovely baubles and decorations.

What a surprise we got too when we bumped into residents and staff from our sister home Barchester Healthcare Moors Manor in St Leonards!

Ferndown Remembrance Parade

Our residents, relatives and team braved the chilly weather to support the Ferndown Remembrance Parade  as they walked along Church Road and past Kings Park.  Lest We Forget.....
