Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

You Said.....We Did

At Kings Park, and indeed at Barchester, our residents’ wishes, thoughts and proposals are taken very seriously

Joan has always loved Moules Marinière and her daughter always cooks this dish for special occasions. So our Head Chef, Tim, got straight on the case and added it to the menu!

Today was the first time it was served and it was greatly enjoyed by our residents’. Joan commented ‘They were delicious!’

The alternative Main Course, which was also very popular with residents’ was home cooked Chicken Kiev with Sauté Potatoes and Fried Onions, Roasted Butternut Squash and Steamed Cauliflower.

What would be your chosen dish on a menu?

Bonfire Afternoon Tea Dance

After a busy morning baking 'Bonfire Cakes' yesterday, we added them to the menu for our Afternoon Tea Dance.

We danced to our favourite songs and Hannah, our Activities Coordinator, choreographed a short dance routine which residents greatly enjoyed! The cakes were very tasty too!

Fashion Designing

Our creative minds turned to some fashion designing at Kings Park and we all think the completed Tote Bags look amazing!

Pat based her design on her favourite lake in Ireland, Loch Gill. Pat explained that the lake was a favourite spot for her family to visit and she has very fond memories of time spent there. What a lovely way to remember a favourite place.

Spooky Sights at Kings Park!

Pumpkin carving, Spooky Biscuits, Garland Making and Autumnal Flower Arranging have kept our residents busy this week in the lead up to Halloween!

What's your favourite Halloween Treat?!

Chilly Days

The blustery and chilly weather didn't stop our residents wishing to go to the beach at Branksome Dene for some fresh air and wind swept scenery! Wrapped up well we had a short walk along the promenade before warming up with hot drinks in Branksome Beach Restaurant & Cafe. The beach is a favourite spot for many of our residents - even through the winter!

Active in our Community

Whether it's a minibus trip to the New Forest, a short walk to our local library or some in-home arts and crafts, we have everything to offer our residents here at Kings Park who love being active in and around their community!
