Activities at Lanercost House Care Home
Our dedicated Activities Coordinators offer a wide range of mentally and physically stimulating activities for residents and families to enjoy. There are regular outings in the minibus to places of interest, such as local cafes, garden centres and parks, as well as visits from entertainers, musicians and singers - and also from PAT dogs. We host various events, such as themed days, cheese & wine evenings, in addition to offering one-to-one activity sessions, including pampering, games and puzzles. Our activities staff strive to ensure residents participate in any way they can with activities that reflect their capabilities and interests.
Emily Stubbs
I joined the Lanercost House family in June 2021 as a Care Assistant and then joined the activities team in May 2022.
I love bringing joy and fun to residents, relatives, and staff on a daily basis as well as planning and organising themed days, events, and celebrations.
I think the activities’ role is very important for Residents' well-being. Whether they like to keep active with armchair exercises, join in with our weekly quiz or hop in the minibus for a day out - there is something for everyone. I aim to ensure that each Resident's interests and hobbies are supported.
I am passionate about creative and sensory activities and I love to sing and dance together with Residents. I love my job!

Ladies get floral on International Flower Day
The ladies at Lanercost thoroughly enjoyed showing off their green fingers this week to celebrate International Flower day. Flowers were sourced from a local florist, and the ladies soon got busy with creating their wonderful colourful creations to have on display throughout the home. The bright and colourful additions lifted everyone’s mood on a cold, wet day.

Keeping active together!
Residents enjoy keeping active together in their popular weekly armchair exercises, each session is great fun and interactive. It's the perfect way to keep moving and have some socialisation. The staff enjoy taking part in these sessions too, this is encouraging for our residents and results in all round fun for everyone!
This week the session was themed to ‘disco music’ and much to everyone’s delight they ended with some impromptu disco dancing, The fun and laughter was a great tonic to the day and leaving everyone in high spirits and looking forward to the next session.
New Year celebrations
Residents at Lanercost brought in 2021 by enjoying a glass of bubbles before sitting down to enjoy a special lunch prepared by the homes hospitality team. Everyone tucked into a festive roast with all the trimmings whilst enjoying music gently playing the background. Throughout lunch the conversations flowed as they each discussed what 2021 holds for everyone one.
The gentleman were suited and booted for the occasion and everyone dressed for the occasion, it was a fabulous day for all. Residents and staff at Lanercost would like to wish their family, friends and community a very happy, safe 2021!

The home noticed a social media post from a family due to covid19 travel restrictions were unable to spend time with their father who meant he would be spending the day alone, so we were only too happy to support and delivered a 3-course meal, socially distanced to the front door.
