Activities at Lethen Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

The Many Joys of Gardening

Our residents John, Davie and Lewis had a very interesting morning here at Lethen park.

Today John and Lewis Sat together watching their friend Davie work in the garden.

David has been working very hard in the garden and has been getting it all ready for all the resident to enjoy this sprint.

This activity impacted all three gentleman in a very positive way, Lewis was able to sit with John and reminisce about their own gardens over the years and Davie was able to use his skill from being a janitor in the garden.

Davie raked the ground, pruned the trees back and swept the path, Once he was finished the three gentleman sat with a fine cup of coffee.

All three gents felt a scenes  of connectedness and joy.

Resident realises dream

Staff at Lethen Park Care Home in Portlethen have gone above and beyond to help one of their much-loved resident’s dreams come true.  Sandy was a builder by trade and had always wanted to put his considerable skills and knowledge gained over many years to good use once again, so staff at the home set about making his wish a reality.

When Lethen Park had a recent refurbishment, the team knew this was their chance to help Sandy realise his dream.  All the staff were delighted to be a part of making Sandy’s wish come true, as they knew how much it meant to him to know like he was adding value and making a difference.  Working with the contractors, the team planned in some time when Sandy could help and they all wanted to be there to see the smile on his face when he was able to roll up his sleeves, get his overalls on and pitch in.  Activities Lead, Amanda, and Simeon from Prestige Decorators Aberdeen supported Sandy to ensure he didn’t overdo it!
