Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Paula Courtney

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog.  I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger.  My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly.  I am delighted to be back working with the team.

I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites!  My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events.  Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.  As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Celebrating Edna's Birthday

We celebrated the lovely Edna's Birthday and what better way to celebrate than a personalised cake and live entertainment all enjoyed with friends. Edna's smile lights up the home every day, so we were delighted to celebrate her special day.

Resident and Family Meeting

There was a warm welcome for Llys-Y-Tywysog families today for our resident and family meeting. These meetings are an important part of life in the home; the team strive to ensure we are resident led and always welcome new ideas and feedback.

Pony Pet Therapy

It was another busy and very enjoyable weekend for residents at Llys-Y-Tywysog. Everyone enjoyed the saxaphone concert, then there was Pet Therapy with Shelia this time she bought in her gorgeous pony as well. We also fitted in a few games of quoits - where do our residents get all their energy from?!

Willow Makes us all Smile

Residents and the team love it when Willow visits and we can see she enjoys her visits too. The benefits of pet therapy include lowering blood pressure, reducing anxiety and increasing energy. We all love seeing four legged visitors at Llys-Y-Tywysog.

Creepy and Cute Decorations!

This week has been all things spooky preparing for our Halloween Fun and Games event on 31st October. Residents have been creating some creepy bats and cats, although some look rather cute! Paula, the activities coordinator is very creative and all of these great decorations can be made out of items we all have at home.

Happy Birthday Des!

Happy Birthday to our wonderful Des! Des has been a resident at Llys-Y-Tywysog for five years and is loved by all. To celebrate we had a bit of a do with residents' favourite Jimmy Elvis performing. We all couldn't help but sing a long to all of Elvis' classic songs and great fun was had by all!
