Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Paula Courtney

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog.  I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger.  My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly.  I am delighted to be back working with the team.

I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites!  My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events.  Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.  As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Miss Swansea Visits Llys-Y-Tywysog

It was a day of special visitors at Llys-Y-Tywysog. We welcomed those considering care to the open day to show them around our beautiful home and talk to the team and residents. Audrey from our care team bought in Cassie to meet the residents. Cassie is 8 weeks old and absolutely gorgeous. She obviously finds our beds very comfortable nodding off!

Then in the afternoon we had the pleasure of a visit from UK National Miss Swansea winner, Lucy Porter.  Lucy talked to residents about her experience entering the competition and they were so interested and all wanted to wear the sash! Thank you so much Lucy for taking the time to visit Llys-Y-Tywysog.

Visit to WWT Llaneli Wetlands Centre

Llys-Y-Tywysog residents enjoyed a great visit to WWT Llanelli Wetlands Centre. It was a beautiful winter's day, the sky was clear and although cold we wrapped up warm and so enjoyed walking around. The flamingos were so interesting to watch and so many of the birds were so tame. Paula and Sarah, the activities team are planning weekly trips and the Wetlands Centre was top of the list.  The visit was finished off with a hot drink in the cafe.

Happy Birthday Doreen

Llys-Y-Tywysog had the pleasure of celebrating Doreen's birthday.  Our hospitality made a beautiful and delicious cake, which was enjoyed by all the residents with afternoon tea.

Llys-Y-Tywysog residents so enjoyed seeing Snow White at Venue No 1 over two evenings. Our fabulous activities team took two different groups over the two nights and what a fantastic show. Thank you so much to the cast for taking the time to chat to residents and for the great photos after the performance.

Llys-Y-Tywysg Christmas Party

Llys-Y-Tywysog's Christmas party was a great opportunity for everyone to celebrate.  We were delighted to welcome Robbie Lee, who has been one of our fantastic entertainers throughout the year. It was so lovely to get together and have a good sing along and toe tap. Lots of smiles all round.
