Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Paula Courtney
Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog. I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger. My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.
I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University. As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Life at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Respite Couples dream comes true!
Husband and wife, Geriant and Mair Thomas, staying at Llys-Y-Tywysog for respite care, made a wish on our wishing washing line. Today we made their dream come true!
The couple wanted to return back to the golf club which they built and lived for many years.
As we approached there were mixed emotions talking about all the trees they had planted and fairways they had mowed over the years.
We were greeted by Racheal, Tim and Lisa who run The willows and made them a beautiful afternoon tea.
Geriant and Mair retired from the golf club 19 years ago and were reunited with the owners who they had sold to. What an afternoon to treasure!
Walk to the park!
With such fine weather we have to take advantage with a walk to our local park. Residents enjoyed seeing the beautiful flowers in Grovesend, going on the swings and roundabouts in the park and enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Our carer, Jess, also having a fantastic time on the slides!
Margaret’s wish comes true!
Margaret made a wish on our Wishing Washing Line and today we made it come true!
We visited Will’s Petting Farm in Three Crosses this afternoon, Margaret loves all animals so a special visit was arranged .
As you can see we loved meeting the animals at the farm getting to feed and pet them all. Lovely afternoon for Margaret.
Beti’s Choir Concert
Beti's choir has been going for 39 years! And since 2010 they have performed at Llys-Y-Tywysog every year (minus covid years). We are so thankful for this commitment to entertaining our residents. The residents enjoyed listening to the popular tunes from Mary Poppins, Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and Chess, to name a few! We look forward to their next visit.
Summer Garden Party
A garden full of joy this afternoon with our friends and families. The sun was shining while we welcomed the amazing sounds from Swansea Ukulele Club.
Followed by a delicious BBQ from the hospitality team Andy and Julie.
The Gwynfa Gwyther Room
Gwynfa was invited back to Gorseinon Institute accompanied by her family and friends, where she spent many many years as a volunteer and as a thank you and gratitude for all her dedication and hard work a room was named after her.
When Gwynfa cut the ribbon said she felt like royalty, it was such a special day.
