Activities at Lydfords Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gardening Club Has Begun

Now the weather is improving and the rain has decided to take a break. We wanted to make the most of it. The opportunity lent itself to be the perfect time to get out in the garden and get on top of weeding and planting.

Our residents love to be outside in the garden as much as possible and there is nothing better than having beautiful flowers to enjoy looking at whilst sitting there with a drink.

Its Quiz Time!!

Wow, what a fun evening at our monthly quiz night. Dinner was enjoyed and savoured then transformed into the quiz room! The dining room was full of excitement last night at our quiz. There was fun, laughter and of course some sore losers. But everyone had a great time and the quiz master did a great job as always.

Burns Night Celebrations

Lydfords care home in East Hoathly prepared a traditional Burns Night Supper to the tune of bagpipes and the fun continued well into the night.

Staff and residents at the home were involved in a number of activities, learning the art of Scottish Country Dancing and the Ceilidh to mark the Scottish institution, including giving the time-honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding race’ – the haggis.

General Manager, Anthony, at Lydfords, thought it was a perfect occasion to celebrate an evening steeped in age-old tradition as well as getting in a spot of Scotch whisky tasting and reading a selection of Burns’ poems.

Residents take part in Barchester bowling league

Residents at Lydfords care home in East Hoathly recently met up with their sister homes to take part in their monthly bowling league.

Five of Barchester Healthcare homes got together and met at Freedom Leisure in Hailsham to play in their monthly bowling league. Each home had their own team and competed for this month’s winning title. Residents at Lydfords care home enjoyed some friendly competition amongst friends.

This is such a fantastic monthly event that everyone really enjoys taking part in. We always try and think of unique and fun ideas for our residents to do. We are so lucky to have other homes close by to be able to enjoy this with.

Christmas Carols and Mulled Wine

Residents, family and friends had a wonderful afternoon of singing Christmas Carols with mulled wine, followed by the official turning on of the Christmas lights.

Thank you to the Uckfield Mayor, Councillor Karen Bedwell for doing the honours. These are moments we all treasure and get us in the festive spirit.
