Activities at Lydfords Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Needle felt Making At The Community Gardens

How lucky are we to have this wonderful community garden right here in the village. Yesterday we were invited down to the allotment to join in with a needle felt making class, along with tea and cakes.

We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful and peaceful surroundings, not to mention the fantastic company and guidance with the felt making.

An Enchanted Afternoon: Opera Al Fresco

Well in contrast to recent days in our garden, we had to dig out our coats and blankets for yesterday's 'Opera in the garden'. But that didn't dampen our fun.

Residents and the local community were treated to the fantastic voice of Charlotte, and her pianist. She really took us on a journey through the most popular Operas with a fantastic explanation of the story of the opera before she began.

During the intermission, we enjoyed macaroons, profiterole's and sparkling wine before settling down to enjoy the last half.

Quilt For Princess Kate Is Complete

Our quilt is finished. We've spent the last few weeks during our sewing club with Rachel, creating this wonderful quilt.

We dusted off our old sewing machines and really enjoyed spending time together during our sewing club. Thank you Rachel for all your help and guidance.

Rachel has taken the quilt away to do the last final touches before it is sent up to Buckingham Palace for Princess Kate.

Annual BBQ Street Party

We had such a fun evening at our annual street party out the front of our home.

We were joined by the very talented Gem Stillman,  who sang all the tunes to get us up dancing and singing along.

We also had the authentic BBQ company Field & Flame who freshly prepared a delicious BBQ dinner.
Thank you to all those to came to join in the fun.

You're Never Too Old For Nerf War!

You should have heard the laughter coming from the lounge yesterday afternoon. We had such fun with nerf target practice, requested by the residents for something a bit silly and different.

Everyone got involved and had a go at the target practise. Sometimes it is nice to do something a bit different and can something so simple to make everyone smile.

Gentle Garden Yoga

This morning it was just right for our seated yoga group to take the class outside in the sunshine.
The weather was perfect and the being in the countryside helps with relaxation, releases endorphins and creates a calm and happy experience.
After all that stretching, we cooled off with a glass of iced water.
