Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Tina Holmes
Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.
I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.
I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

Celebrating our Volunteers
Volunteers who give up their free time to provide extra support at Meadowbeck were given a special thank you during Volunteers Week 2024.
Volunteers Week, which takes place this year from June 1-7, allows us to celebrate and recognise the hard work and commitment of selfless volunteers who go above and beyond for our residents and patients. They bring so much joy and comfort, as well as offering meaningful companionship for residents who truly appreciate it. Volunteers Week is the perfect opportunity to say thank you for their amazing contribution over the past year.

Staff and residents had a fantastic time celebrating National Fish & Chip Day on Fryday 7th June, surely one of the best days of the year! Head chef Daniel, whipped up a delicious fish and chips lunch with some home-made tartare sauce and mushy peas.

Wonders of the ocean
Residents across our services enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of The Deep, an award-winning aquarium in Hull.
Our residents dived into the underwater world of some fascinating creatures such as sharks, turtles and stingrays.
It was a truly immersive and educational experience that brought the wonders of the ocean right to our screens.
It's how we roll.....

Overseen by head chef Daniel, staff and residents experimented with many different types of fillings and flavour combinations, from more traditional meat to vegetarian and vegan offerings, to different flavours of pastry – there were even some sweet versions for the more adventurous!

Visit From The Scouts
We were delighted to welcome Scout Leader Kevin and Michael from Osbaldwick and Murton Cubs And Scouts group into our home who joined us for the evening with the Scouts.
We had great fun playing games together with a game of ping pong, followed with a building exercise out of spaghetti and marshmallows showing their creative skills how to build a tower or a bridge.
We gave the scouts a tour of our home and answered questions they had about life at Meadowbeck, and Kevin gave us a talk explaining all about their badges.
It is always wonderful to see how the older and younger generation interact together, Bill having been a school teacher was delighted.
