Activities at Middletown Grange Care Home
We aim to provide a variety of activities that will both mentally and physically stimulate the people we support. Residents have a range of different needs and interests, and it is crucial that these are reflected in the activities available, so that each individual is able to participate to the best of their ability. We organise both group and individual social events that everyone is welcome to take part in; there is a weekly outing to local places of interest, including the garden centre and the local farms, parks and museums. In addition, we enjoy regular visits from entertainers and even exotic animals. We also host events such as 'Beach Day' that relatives and friends are encouraged to participate in. Getting involved in charities is a big part of our ethos, so events such as 'PJs for Pudsey' and pirate-themed days are regularly hosted to raise money for different foundations, including the Alzheimer’s Society.

Garden Party
Chris the piano man came in to play for us out in the garden sun recently. Residents enjoyed gently swaying to the soft melodies and where singing along by the end. One resident especially as she used to play piano herself and was conducting along with the notes.
Summer Painting
Members of our Memory Lane unit were getting messy with some Summer painting. Some drew a pattern out and then painted on top of the pattern and others painted with their hands. This creative and sensory activity was thoroughly enjoyed and was a great start to summer activities.
Employee of the Month - May
Congratulations to Jane Pocock who is Employee of the Month for May! Thanks for all your hard work.
Baking Session
Every week our activities team run a cooking or baking session in our Memory Lane community. At our last session, one of the residents suggested making an apple pie so that's exactly what we did!
Residents enjoyed chopping apples, measuring out ingredients and rolling out pastry as we worked together to create our masterpiece! This was the first time our activities coordinator had ever made an apple pie so residents had to help out by telling them what to do. Once made, we popped the apple pie in the oven and waited patiently (some more so that others!) for it to cook. Once finished, residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed tucking into the delicious pie!
We can't wait for the next session!
Scarecrow Competition
Hailey Festival's Scarecrow Competition had 41 entries this year. The entire village and visitors from surrounding areas were excited to see a wonderful display. Middletown Grange made their own scarecrow this years and everyone really enjoyed creating it.
Flower Arranging
Residents have been enjoying our weekly flower arranging sessions, which have been supplied by our local Sainsbury's.
