Activities at Middletown Grange Care Home

We aim to provide a variety of activities that will both mentally and physically stimulate the people we support. Residents have a range of different needs and interests, and it is crucial that these are reflected in the activities available, so that each individual is able to participate to the best of their ability. We organise both group and individual social events that everyone is welcome to take part in; there is a weekly outing to local places of interest, including the garden centre and the local farms, parks and museums. In addition, we enjoy regular visits from entertainers and even exotic animals. We also host events such as 'Beach Day' that relatives and friends are encouraged to participate in. Getting involved in charities is a big part of our ethos, so events such as 'PJs for Pudsey' and pirate-themed days are regularly hosted to raise money for different foundations, including the Alzheimer’s Society.

Life at Middletown Grange Care Home

,

The Living Eggs

We now have 4 hatched chicks, but only 2 of them are ready to be moved to the brooding box – a boy (yellow) and a girl (brown).

Residents and staff are finding this whole experience exciting and uplifting. A single chick hatching causes a ripple of positive discussion, which spreads around the home.

Shopping Trip & Horse Visit

We had a shopping trip into Witney and, whilst there, met Barney the shire horse. The residents loved him so much that we invited him to the home the next day.

Barney and his owner, John, are local to Witney and they could not wait to come to the care home to see all the residents. For some, it was a trip down memory lane, and others were just happy to pet him. Even the local ambulance service had to say hello!

Mini Snowmen at Middletown

As some residents at Middletown Grange are less mobile than others, we brought the snow to them! We had lots of fun making mini snowmen, but we had to be quick about it before the snow melted.

Christmas Cake

Christmas Cake

We have been busy at Middletown Grange making our own Christmas cake! We are entering the Barchester Christmas Cake Competition, but the fun was definitely in the baking part!

Ice Skating

Ice Skating

Residents went to Millets Farm to experience the thrill of skating outdoors on a real ice rink! Afterwards, they went to Ice Café to warm up with a yummy hot chocolate and a slice of cake.

Doll Therapy

At Middletown Grange, we have three dolls that get a lot of love and attention from both residents and staff members.
