Activities at Milford House Care Home

The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.

Life at Milford House Care Home

Coffee & Cakes

Coffee & Cakes

These are two magic words as far as we are concerned and residents can be regularly found tasting the delights of nearby cafes. We all have our favourites and have great fun rating the cakes and coffee according to our personal likes and dislikes.

The Pluckers Entertain

The Pluckers Entertain

Residents at Milford enthusiastically packed the dining room for a regular visit from the Salisbury Pluckers, who brought their ukuleles with them. Everyone got into the spirit of things, joining in all the songs and chatting with members of the band, who are becoming old friends now, as they are such regular visitors.

We are always amazed at how many turn up for the afternoon and give freely so much of their time. We are hugely appreciative and look forward to their next visit!

Welcome Cuppa

Welcome Cuppa

A bright morning saw a group of residents heading out for a bit of retail therapy – or at least some window shopping. However, as with all expeditions of this sort, it wasn’t long before the call of the coffee shop grabbed everyone’s attention and soon everyone found a well-earned cup of coffee and a well-chosen cake in front of them; needless to say, they didn’t last long!

Getting into the Spirit

Getting into the Spirit

Residents were treated to an afternoon of fun and entertainment with Mike & Muriel. On a slightly cooler day than has been the norm recently, everyone joined in with song and movement and had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Mike and Muriel have been coming to Milford for a number of years now and we love having them here and are looking forward to seeing them again soon.

Owl Afternoon

Owl Afternoon

Residents and guests at Milford were treated to an afternoon with the owls courtesy of Sharandy’s Birds of Prey. The 6 birds that flew in for a visit ranged from the large and gorgeous Horned Owl (pictured) to the tiny (and very cute) Little Owl who captured everyone’s hearts. The birds were introduced to the residents who had gathered in the courtyard to meet them and then toured the home visiting those residents who were unable to leave their rooms. It was a lovely afternoon rounded off by a lovely cream tea.

Alpaca Favourites

Alpaca Favourites

A sunny Friday afternoon has seen a group of residents out for tea and on a visit to Riverbourne Community Farm. We have more visits planned and we can’t wait to see the latest arrivals – watch this space!
