Activities at Milford House Care Home
The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.
Gale Louw
Gale joined the Milford team in 2019, initially as a carer but has gradually transferred over to the Activities Team where she is now the full time Coordinator. Gale has a passion to create a comprehensive and inclusive programme of vibrant events for residents, family
members and friends to enjoy and, along with the rest of team, ensure that each resident is able to participate in meaningful activities tailored to their likes and dislikes.
Originally from South Africa, when not at work Gale loves nothing more than exploring the UK, catching up with family and friends, being creative across a variety of disciplines and keeping her eyes out for great activities and events she can bring back to the home for
residents to enjoy.

Life at Milford House Care Home
A Visit from Mike and Muriel
A cold January day was brightened by the visit of Mike and Muriel who entertained us for the afternoon. They performed a range of songs for us, had us singing along, demonstrated some ballroom dancing and even got some of us line-dancing where we discovered what having 'two left feet' really means! It was a really fun and interactive afternoon and we are thoroughly looking forward to their next visit in March.
Feels like Spring at Milford House
Residents at Milford House decided that they wanted to feel spring was around the corner even if we have had the first real frosts of the year. So we went to our craft cupboard, got out the tissue paper and created some lovely spring blossom of our own. We then went out into the garden and gathered some twigs, put the whole lot up on our board in the Conservatory and hey presto - Spring has arrived in this corner of the home!
Theatre Outing
A small group of Residents visited Salisbury Playhouse for the matinee performance of 'Can't Buy Me Love' which was a medley of songs and words on the theme of money and love. It was a wonderful show with a range of songs from every era matching the theme and we had a thoroughly entertaining afternoon. This is the fourth year running we have attended this after Christmas revue and we can't wait to book for next year's show!
Santa's Helpers
With so many residents to visit, Santa couldn't be expected to manage by himself and so a range of helpers gathered to welcome him and lend a hand as he visited each resident to personally deliver a Christmas present! It was quite a motley crew including a reindeer, elves and even a snowman, but all gifts were safely delivered!
Amazing Amaryllis
Residents at Milford House are rightly proud of the gorgeous Amaryllis that we planted (along with about 10 others) in early November and which has just come out in time for Christmas. It is the first of several, so we will be enjoying them over the coming weeks as they grace the rooms around the home. They have grown so quickly that it feels as though you can literally see them shoot up in front of your eyes. We have also grown some hyacinths and these are also out and making the home smell wonderful.
