Activities at Milford House Care Home
The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.
Gale Louw
Gale joined the Milford team in 2019, initially as a carer but has gradually transferred over to the Activities Team where she is now the full time Coordinator. Gale has a passion to create a comprehensive and inclusive programme of vibrant events for residents, family
members and friends to enjoy and, along with the rest of team, ensure that each resident is able to participate in meaningful activities tailored to their likes and dislikes.
Originally from South Africa, when not at work Gale loves nothing more than exploring the UK, catching up with family and friends, being creative across a variety of disciplines and keeping her eyes out for great activities and events she can bring back to the home for
residents to enjoy.

Life at Milford House Care Home
Summer Scorcher
It was a sizzling hot day as we held our Summer Party at Milford House. There was no sign of a cloud in the sky as residents, staff, families and friends enjoyed a sumptuous summer buffet lunch, followed by a cream tea with singing from Amanda in between! Umbrellas and hats were the order of the day to keep everyone cool and there was lots of lovely icy cold drinks as well. It was a fabulous afternoon and for once the British weather played along as well!
Activity Achievement
At Milford we are delighted that Mary, a key member of our Activities Team, has been awarded her NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Activity Provision by NAPA (National Activity Providers Association).
This award represents a year of hard work by Mary and is thoroughly deserved and she is pictured here with Phil Chapman, General Manager of Milford House, receiving her certificates.
Alpacas do the Rounds
After a Milford welcome from staff, our two Alpaca guests did the rounds of the Home visiting every Resident who wanted to meet them in their rooms. There were no barriers to visits as Oliver and Jimmy went up and down in the lifts, climbed small flights of stairs and were perfect guests as they said hello to everyone around the home. They went down a storm and we are delighted that they will be coming back again in September when we are sure there will be a long waiting list to see them.
Alpaca Arrival
Milford House has recently been delighted to welcome Oliver and Jimmy with their handler Wendy Williams to the Home. On a sunny day staff were out in force to meet the alpacas and give them a Milford welcome before they entered the home.
Mike & Muriel Entertain
Residents at Milford were delighted to have Mike & Muriel in to entertain for an hour – despite the very hot weather – and in our shady dining room a good time was had by all. Mike and Muriel have been coming to Milford for two years now on a regular basis and we love having them, as they bring such enthusiasm to everything that they do – we can’t wait until the next time.
Ukuleles all the Way
Milford House was host to another fabulous visit from the Salisbury Ukulele Band, who entertained us royally on one of the hottest days of the year! Ice lollies and cold drinks were the order of the day, as they strummed and sang for us and we all joined in. The band will be here again before the end of the year and we all look forward to their visit
