Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Minibus outing to Avon Heath Country Park

This week’s minibus outing was nice and local to the home we visited Avon Heath Country Park. We are very lucky to have such wonderful views of this park from our home, so we decided to visit the main park have a walk and then finish off our visit with a cup of tea and cake. We also had fun watching the many dogs that were out for dog walks which then had all the ladies reminiscing of their own dogs they used to have.

Enable Launch Party

We launched our new Enable system in the home, which is where we have now transitioned over to electronic care planning. As always when we start something new and exciting in the home we then need to have a party to celebrate and boy did we celebrate!

We had entertainment from Nigel Revill - Lone Reveller Music who performed a variety of songs which as you can see residents and staff all were dancing along too. Our hospitality team provided us with a wonderful buffet of sweet and savoury treats which everyone enjoyed.

It was a wonderful afternoon with lots of laughter and fun.

Knit and Knatter club

Our ladies enjoyed our recent knit and knatter club in the home and are all working on lots of different items which we will look forward to showing you the finished products later in the year.

It's also a chance to talk over a cup of tea and share experiences of when residents used to do this with their mothers and grandmothers when they were younger. We all had a lovely morning and of knitting and a good ole natter!

Gardening club

Residents are really enjoying the gardening club we have here in the home and on this occasion it was all about our radishes!! Residents had planted these to grow and here they are picking the radishes and it is fair to say they are a great size and will be used in salads for everyone to enjoy.

Afterwards a well-deserved rest for our keen gardeners, keep up the good work!
