Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

All Saints Church Service

We had All Saints Church in St Leonard's and St Ives come back to the home to provide a church service for all of our residents. Residents were very pleased to have Rev Ruth come back to the home to provide the service for them so that they can fulfil their religious beliefs.

We look forward to welcoming Rev Ruth back in the home very soon.

Red Arrow fly pass

Last week we were able to watch the amazing Red Arrows do a fly pass near the home as it was D-Day. Residents where enjoying the beautiful weather in our garden when they flew past. Being close to the airport we are lucky to then be able to watch then fly pass the home. Residents were sharing their many memories of watching the Red Arrows in previous years at the Bournemouth Air Show.

Alan Poulton performs in the home

We had the lovely Alan come in to play the piano to our residents in the home. He sang a selection of songs that had everyone singing along and tapping their toes too. Music brings so much joy and laughter to everyone here and we welcome all of our wonderful entertainers to the home.

Bingo with our volunteers

We had our lovely volunteers Geraldine and Dee come in to the home and what a better day to come than when it is Bingo! All the ladies were very focused eyes down and waiting to hear each number being called out. Our winners were Veena, Marianne and Betty well done to you all. Bingo is a great way to have fun and be that little bit competitive and spend time together.

Residents art class

Residents enjoy our regular art classes in the home and on this occasion they all had their pebbles to create designs which we will then put into the gardens here in the home. Residents were able to get creative with lots of different coloured paints and all designed very different pebbles. We look forward to seeing them in the garden when they are all dry.

Minibus outing to Christchurch Quay

We had another outing in the minibus and this time we headed to Christchurch Quay. It may have been a bit windy but that didn't stop us having a little walk and looking at the many swans and ducks swimming in the river. We then went into the Old Mill Tea Rooms to warm up and enjoy a lovely cup of tea/coffee.
