Activities at Moors Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson
Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.
I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.
When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.
I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Home's shopping afternoon
Our ladies in the home love to go shopping so we thought let's make this a little bit easier by bringing the shopping to them. We had a local company come in to the home with rails of clothing for our ladies to have a good look through and see what they wanted to buy. Shopping is tough work so of course everyone needed a much needed rest to have a cup of tea/coffee to then carry on shopping!!
It was a wonderful afternoon and everyone was very keen to do this indoor shopping event in the home again soon.

The Curiosity Case
We welcomed back the lovely Claire from The Curiosity Case to the home for this month’s session which was all about "The High Street". Residents all were able to share their stories and have great conversations with each other.
We love having Claire come to the home as it is wonderful to reminisce with one another and remember some of those memories that may have been forgotten. We look forward to seeing what next month's case will be all about.

Baking Club - Strawberry Cheesecake
This week’s baking club had residents making individual strawberry cheesecakes. Residents were all chopping the strawberries, crushing the biscuits to form the base and making the cream cheese topping. Residents enjoyed making them and then later on at supper had the best bit of enjoying them to eat!! We have lots of resident, staff and family involvement in our baking clubs and we look forward to seeing what is made next time.

Yoga with Rosemary
Residents enjoyed their weekly seated yoga class with Rosemary. Rosemary was able to have all residents stretching, breathing and feeling a sense of calm and wellness. Residents are so keen to have their different exercise classes, and as the saying goes "If you don't use it, you will lose it" which we are keen to promote here in the home.

Love to Move exercise class
Residents had their weekly exercise class and this week we had the lovely Katie from Love to Move Dorset. Katie had everyone moving, using their dexterity skills and also getting their thinking caps going for a very enjoyable and fun morning. We look forward to Katie's next visit in a couple of weeks’ time.

Minibus outing to Ringwood
Residents June, Marianne, Sheila and Linda enjoyed a minibus outing to Ringwood to have a look around the shops. A few of the ladies bought some new books to enjoy reading and then finished off the trip enjoying hot drinks and cake in a local café. The ladies all had a lovely time and were planning their next shopping trip!!
