Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Traditional Indian Dancing

We welcomed Nisha to Moreton Hill for a traditional dance display from Goa, India.  The beautiful colours of Nisha’s dress and the graceful movements of her dance were fabulous to watch.  Some of our residents were brave enough to have a go at dancing too!

A Lovely visit from some LIttle Lambs

Residents were thrilled when local farmer Adrian brought along three of his lambs for everyone to see.  The lambs were all orphaned but despite being only a couple of weeks old, all looked healthy and were happy to have a stroke and a cuddle with our residents.

Mr & Mrs Cull Celebrate Platinum Wedding Anniversary

Local couple Margaret and John Cull celebrated their Platinum wedding anniversary in style. 70 years of marriage is a fantastic milestone for this lovely couple. Staff, family and friends celebrated with Margaret and John on the day with a beautiful cake made especially for the occasion by our chef.

Moira and the King

On the death of Queen Elizabeth, our Resident Ambassador, Moira, wrote to our new monarch on behalf of all our residents expressing our condolences on the passing of his mother. Quite unexpectedly, Moira received a card from Charles thanking us all for our sympathy and kind wishes.  Moira read the message to everyone and sent the card around Moreton for all to see.  It is now framed and on display in our Reception areas.

Wildhogs

Whenever we have a raffle or fundraiser, our residents choose a charity they wish to donate to.  This time it was a local charity called ‘Wildhogs Rescue’, who as the name implies and the pictures show, rescue hedgehogs who have been injured and who need help.  As well as bringing in lots of lovely picture boards – sadly no live hedgehogs – the Charity gave a talk to our residents about hedgehogs and how to protect them.  A great afternoon for everyone

Pet Therapy

Here at Moreton Hill we love our animals.  We are lucky enough to have 3 ponies grazing on our land and 3 resident cats, not to mention all the fabulous wildlife we see in our grounds.  Our therapy dogs, Lizzi, Ruby and Suki all play an important part in our lives and come in a couple of times a week to visit.  Everyone makes a big fuss of them and loves having them around.  In a couple of weeks, Caroline, one of our Activity Co-Ordinators, whose husband is a famer, will be bringing in some lambs for us to see.  We can’t wait!!
