Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Hello. I am Jackie, the Lead Activity Co-Ordinator at Moreton Hill. I have worked for Barchester for over 10 years. Now, together with my team and the staff at our beautiful home, our aim is to help all residents live life to the best they can by bringing meaningful and enriching activities into their lives.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Moreton Hill Care Home
Harvest Festival
We always celebrate Harvest Festival at Moreton Hill. Lyn from Standish Church who gives our monthly Communion Service read poems and prayers to make this a special harvest service. We ended with everyone singing ‘ We plough the fields and scatter.’ The Service was followed by a delicious lunch prepared by our talented Chef and his team.
Recomposing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons
We have a new activity at Moreton Hill run by local composer Susie Vaughan. Susie brings along all her own instruments and with the help of prompts our residents are working on re-creating Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. There will be four sessions run by Susie and if the first one was anything to go by this is going to prove a really popular activity.
Canal Boat Trip
The sun was shining when we went on our annual Willow Trust canal boat trip. This year we motored from Saul Junction down towards Bristol stopping for lunch at the famous Purton Hulks. At this point on the canal the river Severn is just a few metres away and the hulks were put in place to protect the canal. We all had the most fabulous day and we would like to thank the Willow Trust Charity who take us out every year. One of our residents, Anne, even got the opportunity to be Captain for a while.
Happy 92nd Birthday Veda!
We love to celebrate birthdays. It’s a great excuse for a party and a get together with family and friends. Here is Veda who recently celebrated her 92nd birthday in our beautiful courtyard garden. Happy Birthday Veda!
Hawks Visit
These birds of prey have been to visit us a couple of times and always prove a crowd puller. Our residents love finding out all about their habitats and feeding habits and it is also a real treat to be able to handle the birds and see them close up.
Trip to Gloucester Cathedral
Every month we hold a Residents’ meeting where we ask everybody to have their say about the activities we run here at our home. Trips out are always very popular and one of the places our residents wanted to visit over the summer was Gloucester Cathedral. We had a lovely day out exploring the beautiful cathedral and as the sun was shining we were able to picnic outside. It was a fabulous trip for everyone.
