Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Moreton Hill Book Club

The Moreton Hill Residents' Book Club have just finished Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club - highly recommended. This week we read some Roald Dahl, deciding that next week will will start an old favourite Swallows and Amazons.

Residents Create Stunning Poppy Display

Residents have been working hard alongside the activities team over the past couple of weeks to make poppies for our remembrance poppy patch. Today we went outside to create the display. Placing the poppies as you go up the hill to Moreton Hill's reception and with the stunning view as the back drop, it is a perfect place for reflection. Lest we forget.

Godsell's Cheese Talk

Moreton Hill had a wonderful afternoon of cheese tasting with local cheese producer Godsell's Chese who are literally down the road. We would like to thank Liz Godsell for such an interesting and really enjoyable afternoon. We all got to sample the range including single and double Gloucester, the Leonard Stanley and the famous Three Virgins. Lorna, our Activities Coordinator used to work at Godsells and still features on their advertising! It is fair to say the cheese and wine was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Pets As Therapy

Lizzy and Ruby's visits continue to bring such joy to the residents. Both are real characters, they love seeing everyone and met some of our new residents. Thank you so much Gaby for their visits and for the time you also give the residents.

Christmas Cake Memories

What do you remember most about Christmas as a child?  As we set to work making our Christmas cake, our residents remembered making the Christmas cakes, Christmas puddings, putting a shilling inside as well as getting to lick the spoon when they were children!  It is wonderful to see so many Christmas traditions continue.  We are sure this cake is going to be delicious and there was no skimping on the brandy!

Preparation for Poppy Display

In two weeks the country will commemorate Remembrance Day. To mark this important day residents today began making poppies to create a special display. The British Legion marked their centenary this year, the support they offer veterans as vital now as it was 100 years ago.
