Activities at Newton House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Baking Fun

Our residents got stuck into some good old fashioned baking fun at Newton House. Making lots of delicious traditional fruit scones!

Our residents and colleagues were able to all reminisce together about what they used to love baking for their families whilst still practising those important lifestyle skills

Residents were then able to enjoy tasting our yummy home-made treats, washed down with a lovely cup of tea.

Roll Up! Roll Up! The Circus Comes To Newton House

Newton House Care Home in Grantham decided to bring the circus to our residents as we were transported to a virtual circus celebrating a day of carnival themed activities.

A circus-themed party started of the celebrations and saw residents enjoying entertainment from our magical activities team, alongside themed food and drinks.

Residents were also invited to try their hand at juggling, hula hooping, face painting and taking part in the vibrant atmosphere of the day.

Karen, Activities Coordinator said: “There is never a dull day at Newton House and we take great pride in providing new experiences for our residents to enjoy! You’re never too old for a bit of clowning around.”

Meet the Manager - Cheese and Wine Evening

Newton House Care Home in Grantham held a cheese and wine evening as the home invited our relatives and members of the community in for a ‘Meet the Manager’ event, giving them an opportunity to meet new Manager Sonia Fairhurst within a relaxed and intimate environment.

Our Activities and Community team, got together to source some local cheeses and a collection of wines chosen by our head chef.

General Manager, Sonia Fairhurst, said: “It has been a lovely evening and a pleasure to meet our resident’s family members and our guests from the wider community. It has been a wonderful experience and we look forward to hosting a follow up event in the near future.”

Gentleman's Club

A group of Grantham care home residents visited a snooker and pool club.

Residents from Newton House Care Home on Barrowby Road, were treated with a bus trip for our weekly ‘Gentleman’s Club’, visiting the Musson & Gap inn for a nice cold pint and a good old game of dominoes. The gents really enjoyed each others company & finished the game with a draw!

They were given a warm welcome and had “a wonderful time”, enjoying a selection of fine ales, good company and plenty of hearty laughter.

A Visit From The Scouts

We were delighted to warmly welcome the Grantham 7th Cub Scouts at Newton House.

Residents and the children enjoyed playing various games including dominoes, connect 4 and board games.

The room was filled with lots of hearty laughter & conversation which put many smiles on everyone’s faces, and we are looking forward to welcoming the Grantham Cub Scouts into our home again soon.

Barchester Supporting Grantham Care Fair

The Maple Leaf Lodge and Newton House Care Homes, came together and joined the local healthcare community at the inaugural Grantham Care Fair, held at the Grantham Guildhall Arts Centre.

The event brought together local businesses and health care professionals including hosts Farrow and Friends, NHS Lincolnshire, The Lincolnshire Nutritionist, Lincs Wellbeing, Age UK, Belvoir Home Care, Right at Home, Kings Court Care Home and Grantham College amongst others to highlight and promote the importance of health and well-being in the community and to highlight support for those in need.

One participant said “it is wonderful to see the variety of different organisations come together in unison, showing their support not only for one another but for those who are the most vulnerable in our communities, it’s heart-warming to know there is so much support in Grantham and the county at large.”
