Activities at Newton House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Weekly Gardening Club

Our weekly gardening club was a huge success, enjoying the glorious weather.

A variety of activities were taking place and there were smiles and laughter all around.

We have also started the upcycle of our wooden furniture outside, the gents helped with the sanding down and have made a fabulous job with the paintwork.

Resident Vonny was in her element with the weeding and bulb planting, whilst others enjoyed music therapy and singalongs in the sunshine.

We are really loving and making the most of this beautiful weather!

A trip to our local park

We are all loving this beautiful weather and ventured out on the minibus to Wyndham Park.

More visits to the park was requested in our last residents meeting, so it is wonderful being able to fulfil residents wishes.

Residents loved saying hello to others, and they loved seeing the children out having fun with their families.

We enjoyed a nice refreshing drink in the Wyndham Park Cafe too and a huge thank you to the kind staff who was very helpful, it’s such a lovely place to visit when going to the park.

John and Janet have asked to go their afternoon tea next time, and where there’s cake involved that’s always a good thing!

Virtual event with Jon Sleigh

Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.  It was a truly lovely time for all.

Gardening Club

A delightful day outside in the sunshine with gardening club,

making the most of the glorious sunshine, planting bulbs and seeds, feeding the birds and a spot of weeding.

The ladies put us to shame with their gardening skills too!

Gardening is very much enjoyed by our residents at Newton House and assists in a feeling of empowerment by placing residents on an expert role.

There are many other benefits also, including maintaining lifestyle skills and hobbies, reminiscence, increased social and mobility skills and a feeling of empowerment.

He said “it was the best morning I’ve ever had”.

Cheers to the Weekend

A cheers to the weekend with a joyous bus trip out to the Miller & Carter for a trip out to enjoy a nice refreshment, we had lots of fun chatting about a variety of different topics.

Janet said “what a great time we’ve had girls, it’s so kind of you to do this”.

We really do love our trips out at Newton House, they provide not only wonderful experiences but opportunities to continue with their hobbies and lifestyle routines.
