Activities at Oulton Park Care Home

We have a wonderful team here at Oulton Park and we all work together to provide a stimulating, active environment for our residents that live here. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for our residents to be part of here, and our activities coordinator works very hard on planning and providing a stimulating busy schedule of activities, as well as assisting the residents with their daily living preferences. We have regular meetings with our families and residents to make sure we are providing things to suit their preferences. We as a home are registered with the National Activity Providers Association and strive to provide a person-centred approach for our residents here.

Louise Hunter-Hall

Life Enrichment & Activities Coordinator

Hello my name is Louise, I am the life enrichment and activities coordinator at Oulton park care centre.

I joined Oulton Park late 2023 but I have worked in the care industry for over 20 years and I have a compassion for my role and work. During the 20years I have supported many different adults with different care needs including, nursing care, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, independent living and 1:1 needs. I have both my level 2&3 in care and level 2 in sign language.

At Oulton my role is to create and organise a range of engaging and meaningful activities. My role brings me a great deal of comfort and joy.

If I can just make 1 persons life better during my working day at Oulton Park then the day has been a success. I feel honoured, fortunate and blessed to do the job I do.

Local Historian Visits

We enjoyed a visit from local Historian Ivan Bunn. A lovely afternoon was had learning and discussing the history of the local area. Residents and visits most enjoyed this wonderful afternoon of fun and learning. This supports the residents interest and connection to their past lives once lived in the town.

Oulton’s Own Spa

To take the time to relax and unwind is very important and we like to encourage our residents to do the same.

so we opened the salon and created and sensory experience where the residents got the chance to pick different treatments and relax whilst enjoying the beautiful sensory lights and calming sounds. It was a wonderful afternoon we chatted and relaxed feeling all of these life stresses falling away.

Margaret’s pasties

One of our lovely residents Margaret has always had a passion for cooking which she made a career out of, for her wish this year Margaret wanted to share her gift of cooking with all of her friends and family in the home and cook her tasty pasties for everyone to try. Margaret and her daughter together then showed the staff and residents how they made the pasties. Reminiscing on the times they would make them when Margaret daughter was a child. It was a lovely wholesome morning and we couldn’t wait to be able to try.  Once they had finished cooking Margaret doing the all-important taste test which she smiled but her thumbs up and said “they’re perfect, you done well” we could all agree that that comment meant more than a Paul Hollywood hand shake.

Erics dream comes true

Meet our wonderful resident Eric.  Eric and the activities team had a discussion the other day about maritime, and he expressed that he would really like to go and see something on that subject. So our amazing activity coordinator took Eric out on an adventure to our local maritime museum.

Fabulous Open Day!!

What a fantastic day indeed today we opened our door and invited the community to come a look at our home and enjoy some summer fun in the garden.  We had an amazing afternoon performance from Jonny laff. We were treated with the arrival of some military vehicles which were amazing to see and learning that two of the trucks had made the journey to Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-day landings was truly an honour
