Activities at Oulton Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We have a wonderful team here at Oulton Park and we all work together to provide a stimulating, active environment for our residents that live here. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for our residents to be part of here, and our activities coordinator works very hard on planning and providing a stimulating busy schedule of activities, as well as assisting the residents with their daily living preferences. We have regular meetings with our families and residents to make sure we are providing things to suit their preferences. We as a home are registered with the National Activity Providers Association and strive to provide a person-centred approach for our residents here.

Louise Hunter-Hall

Life Enrichment & Activities Coordinator

Hello my name is Louise, I am the life enrichment and activities coordinator at Oulton park care centre.

I joined Oulton Park late 2023 but I have worked in the care industry for over 20 years and I have a compassion for my role and work. During the 20years I have supported many different adults with different care needs including, nursing care, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, independent living and 1:1 needs. I have both my level 2&3 in care and level 2 in sign language.

At Oulton my role is to create and organise a range of engaging and meaningful activities. My role brings me a great deal of comfort and joy.

If I can just make 1 persons life better during my working day at Oulton Park then the day has been a success. I feel honoured, fortunate and blessed to do the job I do.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Christmas Garden Centre Trip

The residents and staff enjoyed a wonderful trip to the local garden centre to look at the Christmas decorations and lights.

It was a joyful experience looking at all of the wonderful colours and enjoying the smell of freshly cut Christmas trees whilst music was playing in the background.

We spoke about how they used to celebrate Christmas and how they would decorate their homes, holly appeared to be a very popular option.

Whilst we continued our walk we found a lovely Christmas grotto for the children to enjoy. It was truly a wonderful trip.

Bonfire Night

What an amazing bonfire night.

The residents made their very own guy Faulks ready to go on the fire and we reminisced on the days where children would walk around the local villages/towns collecting what they called a “penny for a guy”.

We also discussed how everyone in their community would come together for these gigantic fires and it was always so much fun.

So this year we ended our bonfire night with a bang! We had an amazing firework show with tasty cakes and hot chocolate. It was wonderful having the families around celebrating with their loved ones and staff.

Hocus Pocus

What a spooky  fabulous busy day we had at Oulton Park.

We started our Halloween of with a sensory session with the residents touching and smelling monster slime with the variety of colour and textures. It was fun and sticky to touch!

We then went on to a ghastly quiz with every question based on Halloween the history and the folklores.

We finished off our wonderful day by having our very own Halloween party with some fantastic music and dancing, there was lots of fun by all.

Brownies and Halloween fun

What a wonderful afternoon spent with the Brownies!

The residents and Brownies decorated some lovely cupcakes enjoyed some Halloween crafts.

Once we had finished with the crafts and messy fun they joined us for our monthly Pudding Club where we tried traditional medieval sole cakes which were given out as the original Halloween treats.

Homemade chocolate apples and some tasty cupcakes.

An afternoon filled with smiles.
