Activities at Oulton Park Care Home
We have a wonderful team here at Oulton Park and we all work together to provide a stimulating, active environment for our residents that live here. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for our residents to be part of here, and our activities coordinator works very hard on planning and providing a stimulating busy schedule of activities, as well as assisting the residents with their daily living preferences. We have regular meetings with our families and residents to make sure we are providing things to suit their preferences. We as a home are registered with the National Activity Providers Association and strive to provide a person-centred approach for our residents here.
Louise Hunter-Hall
Hello my name is Louise, I am the life enrichment and activities coordinator at Oulton park care centre.
I joined Oulton Park late 2023 but I have worked in the care industry for over 20 years and I have a compassion for my role and work. During the 20years I have supported many different adults with different care needs including, nursing care, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, independent living and 1:1 needs. I have both my level 2&3 in care and level 2 in sign language.
At Oulton my role is to create and organise a range of engaging and meaningful activities. My role brings me a great deal of comfort and joy.
If I can just make 1 persons life better during my working day at Oulton Park then the day has been a success. I feel honoured, fortunate and blessed to do the job I do.

Life at Oulton Park Care Home
A trip for some pie and mash
Each month we host a lunch club where the residents get to try new and different foods or even foods that were special to the resident as they were growing up. This month the residents decided they would like to try some food from our local area. When talking they heard of a new pie and mash stall had opened locally and the residents couldn’t resist and trip down to try the tasty British dish. So two of our lovely gentlemen went to our local sea side pavilion and enjoyed traditional pie and mash and of course they had to have some liqueur which is the traditional sauce to have with the pie and mash, The gentlemen also enjoyed a crisp pint to go with their meal. It was a wonderful lunch we chatted and laughed speaking about their lives and memory’s they hold dear of our local town. Whilst there we got to see all the amazing work of the local community. We defiantly look forward to going again.
Our wonderful mothers
what a lovely weekend was had by all celebrating all of the wonderful mothers at Oulton park for mother’s day. The residents and their families joined together to enjoy an afternoon of cake and tea, made by our amazing chefs. The smiles from both the residents and their families was a wonderful sight to see. Being able to show appreciation and love to our mothers is something that that we are grateful and lucky to be able to do. At Oulton park we are very much a big happy family and getting to celebrate these special days together is truly what makes our job so special.
Tudor talk
history is a fascinating topic, learning about how people lived and dressed hundreds of years ago. Here at Oulton park the residents have been exploring the life and times of William Shakespeare in recognition of Shakespeare week. There has been so much fun and laughter along the way. Even the man himself made an appearance. Midweek we welcomed Tudor Lou into the home and we travelled back in time to the court of henry the VIII, we explored the rich fashion of that time feeling the textures of the gowns wore and the residents got to see items such as coins and shoes buckles that were dated to Tudor times . it was an afternoon filled of facts and fun.
Chinese new year
At Oulton park we enjoy learning about different cultures, there traditions and beliefs. This year we delved into the Chinese culture. Chinese new year is celebrated to remove the bad and the old and welcoming the new and the good. the residents learnt about the beast nian and his story. The residents then enjoyed a tasty Chinese menu and they watched Chinese dragon dances which the residents were mesmerised by the skill and talent behind this ancient performance. With flamboyant costumes and vivid red colour around the home, fun was had by both staff and residents at Oulton park.
Blooming Marvellous
The flowers are starting to bloom, and what a beautiful sight it is. The smells and the colours always brings smiles to the residents and it is wonderful to see. The resident love to flower arrange putting spots of beautiful colour around the their home, how beautiful do they look. Whilst making these the residents spoke about their wedding days, we spoke about the different colours and what type of flowers they had on their special days. It was wonderful to reminisce about such precious memories that are so dear to them. We also spoke about spring time and how lovely it is to go out in the garden and see all of the wonderful colours.
For he’s a jolly good fellow
To have a pint down your local, enjoy some good music and even better company is an afternoon that many of us look forward to. This is what our lovely Gordon wanted to do this valentine’s day. so we put on our best shirts and we headed down to the local pub to enjoy a seniors afternoon, Gordon got the chance to meet some new people, we sang and danced together to some live music. It was a joy to engage with the community talking and joking together, it was definitely an afternoon to remember.
