Activities at Ouse View Care Home
We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.
Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Ouse View Care Home
Gardening Club
The residents at Ouse view are anticipating a fabulous spring especially as they have been busy preparing for it. The bulbs we planted before Christmas are giving a fabulous display of colours. Today the keen green fingered gardeners of the home are hoping to have our own vegetables by the summer by planting tomatoes and aubergines.
At Ouse view we also have some keen bird spotters, in order to encourage nature into our gardens we are keeping the feeders topped up. Regardless of the weather our residents love to observe the garden activity either from the window on a chilly day or relaxing in the sun in the summer.
St Patricks Day
At Ouse View residents have been busy with St Patricks Day preparations, creating shamrocks and leprechauns to dress the home.
Today we enjoyed games with our lucky charm, accompanied by Irish folk music which saw residents tapping and clapping away.
We rounded of the morning with a tipple of Guinness and arm chair travel around Ireland. An action packed afternoon lies ahead with Irish themed music session from MEG and for tea a delicious steak and Guinness pie with colcannon.
Exercise Fund Raising!
Over the course of four hours the team attempted to hit the target of 200 miles between a rowing machine and a static bike. Surrounded by encouraging residents the team of 19 powered through giving it their all, local York fire services were also called in to volunteer and help reach the target.
The team have all been fantastic, though we just managed to hit 157 miles within the four hour timeslot, we all had a great time at the event and have raised over £400 for the charity, we will always continue to support Dementia Forward in future events. A huge thank you to all those who took part in the event.
St Clements Hall Trip out
Ouse View like to reach out into our extended community, we made a special trip to do that with a visit to St Clements Hall in York led by Jessa Liversidge. Our residents and staff received a very warm welcome, where we met so many lovely people and some of our residents re-connected with old friends from church and family gatherings. We sang along and were treated to some amazing talent by regular attendees of the group. We watched a tap dancing performance along with a waltz and listened to solo singing performances - Outstanding!
Sensory Games
Exciting morning at the Ouse View care home as our residents enjoyed a fun sensory game in the Namaste room! They had to reach into a box and guess the object they were feeling using only their sense of touch. Val said it was a tricky game, but everyone had a blast!
Crufts 2023
Pet therapy has such a huge impact on the well-being of our residents, Fulford famous ‘Bruno the brown Labrador’ was so excited to join the Pets As Therapy stand on Sunday 12th March at Crufts and spread the love and joy to others - all the way in Birmingham!
Dogs are our companions, working dogs or your personal pet, when our Bruno visits the home at Ouse View, he enjoys all the smiles and laughter residents and staff give just seeing his face and four paws walking around the home.
He is soft, warm and calm in nature and very loyal. Bruno boosts morale and reduces stress by providing emotional security.
