Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

'Tree-mundus' Christmas Cheesy Treats

This week residents have a ‘Tree-mundus’ time at Ouse View making a cheesy Christmas treat. Home bakers and novices were called upon. Once baked all who participated were able to share in the taste test, a delicious festive treat.

Christmas Jumper Day

Christmas jumper day has arrived at Ouse View in Fulford both staff and residents enjoy the fun.

We got Christmas creative by recycling some unwanted jumpers and fabric to make our very own designs, representative shapes are cut, placed and attached to each individual idea.

Cheers to Christmas Time

Today at Ouse view residents reveled in Christmas cheer during our dementia café, exploring sensory Christmas trees, making clay Christmas ornaments, further more we tested our memories and visual recognition in a game of Christmas pairs. We finished with a sing along and festive refreshments of Glühweine, mince pies and stollen.

Deck the Halls!

Here at Ouse view our residents take enormous pride in their environment and like to be involved in its appearance and the care taking. This week they helped to put up the decorations, trim the trees and enjoyed starting the season of advent with calendars. The home is looking very festive staff and residents are getting into the spirit.

York Christmas Markets

At Ouse View we begin our Christmas countdown by decking the halls and a visit to the Christmas market in York. Festive fun is had by all shopping the stalls, seeing the lights followed by hot chocolate in the Swiss chalet.

Nurture and Nature

Our residents at Ouse view are keen to nurture nature within their garden environment. Recently we have been preparing to support our local bird population through the winter by making fat balls. This requires hand eye co-ordination and dexterity to mix the ingredients combining them into the final product.
