Activities at Ouse View Care Home
We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.
Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home
All a flutter as wings soar!
Ouse View care home in Fulford, was full of feathery flutters this week when parrots - Zeus, Aurora and Inca came to visit the home with their handler, Tony Dickenson. Residents at Ouse View were pleasantly surprised to see these colourful birds flying around the home and performing tricks with each resident taking it in turns to hold the well trained birds.
General Manager, Rebekka Richardson said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today. We knew that having the birds here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus. We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the seen the enjoyment and the beautiful colours”.
Kurdish Barber Top Trims
Ouse View called upon local Barber, Dan Raoof to give our gentlemen a traditional Kurdish trim as part of the homes gentleman’s club!
Dan gave his time offering professional haircuts, wet shaves and beard trims amongst other treatments in order that our male residents felt their very best. The gentlemen were delighted to be pampered and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance Visit the Home
At Ouse View we are delighted to welcome Kevin from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Kevin captivated residents and visitors with a presentation which included the history of the charity, along with more on the fantastic team. This gave us great understanding of how grand the reach is for this service operates and how unexpected events may be on a daily basis.
Following the talk it was clear that the YAA have touched the hearts of our residents when one of them tells me they have already organised a donation through their Will.
A little bit of Home Baking
At Ouse View we wrap up sumptuous steak and vegetables in a cosy pastry blanket to form our homemade cornish style pasties. As we crimp our parcels Joan recollects having made them for herself and her husband.
The group enjoys tea and coffee, our mouths water as we smell them cooking. A treat to look forward to for supper.
Dementia Café Morning
At Ouse View in Fulford our residents on memory lane enjoyed a delicious brunch during Dementia café, of croissants, honey and Greek yoghurt as well as unlimited tea and coffee.
In celebration of St David’s day we crafted our own daffodils to match the fresh ones decorating the table.
Our residents were as bright as the yellow flowers themselves, exploring the sensory fidget muffs and interactive games of the magic table.
Carnival Celebrations
Simply Samba at Ouse View. Residents, staff and visitors are taken over by carnival fever. We are led by the talented Katie, Sophia, Jing Kang, Xin, Grace and Olivia from Music Education Group - MEG . To begin we set about learning different rhythms in small groups before putting it all together. The sound is electric and contagious everyone is dressed for the occasion complete masks and flower lay. What a fantastic afternoon of toe tapping and percussion.
