Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home

Concentration and Recognition

Today at Ouse View. Our residents tested their powers of concentration and recognition using a fun and innovative memory card game.

Using bright and interesting images of animals. Our residents and visitors take turns to match the cards in pairs.

We were all so preoccupied, that before we realised it, it was time for our lunch.

,

Armistice Day

This morning at Ouse View we reflected and remembered our fallen heroes and loved ones during Armistice Day.

Residents came together in the lounge to watch the moving coverage provided by the BBC.

Some do this in the quiet of their own rooms.

Harry stands to attention and recites a famous poem.

Throughout the foyer poppies hand made by our residents are put on display.

Holy Communion

Our residents at Ouse View remembered their loved ones during a thoughtful service given by our community Vicar Suzanne Sheriff at Holy Communion. Residents sang well-known hymns and shared their faith together in harmony.

We are already looking forward to our next Holy Communion on 5th December to sing Christmas Carols.

,

Japanese Culture

Residents at Ouse View explore an introduction to some Japanese culture. We relax in the beauty and tranquility of Japanese gardens at autumn time, observing colours, pattern and water. Residents try the art of Japanese paper folding origami, this called on nimble fingers and hand eye coordination.

,

Bonfire Night

A night to remember the 5th of November at Ouse View. Celebrations were enjoyed by residents visitors and staff.

Munching marshmallows, spotting the sparkles in the sky and creating 'choctastic' treats. “just like old times” many residents commented.

Quiz Master Games

Residents at Ouse view tested their powers of mental stimulation and word recognition in a game of hang man.

Working as a team. Our residents called out letters in order to place them before the quiz master completes the diagram and “hangs the man”.

Some of our Memory Lane residents took turns to be the quiz master, having charge of the board. It is brilliant to see the recall and recognition ignited in a fun way.
