Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

November Dementia Cafe Morning

Today at Ouse View we warmly welcomed our community and residents to our Memory Lane Café for our inaugural 'Coffee Morning'

Residents and visitors enjoyed chatting and laughing amongst themselves as they took part in a selection of stimulating activities within a safe environment.

On offer was hand massages and manicures, planting winter bulbs and mindful colouring. Staff were on hand to assist in participation and emotional support when and wherever it is required for residents and visitors from the community.

Spooky tricks and treats at Ouse

Barchester’s Ouse View care home in Fulford, was a den of ghoulish activity as the homes spooky Halloween party got in to full swing.   Residents and staff got in to the spirit of things by decorating the home and creating Halloween decorations, icing spooky cupcakes prepared by the home’s chef, holding a pumpkin painting competition.

General Manager, Rebekka Richardson: “Our staff and residents love any excuse for a party!  The home looks fantastic with all the decorations and our head chef did us proud with lots of spooky treats – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

Saturday Night Salsa

Saturday night is ‘strictly salsa’ at Ouse View, residents are in for a treat with an evening of Strictly Come Dancing! Residents test their strictly knowledge in a quiz and reminisce of dancing days in younger years, chatting about favourite dance where they went and what they wore. All before enjoying some cheese and wine to watch the show.

Keep Fit & Dance!

Residents at Ouse view say ” Oops up side your head” as they maintain their fitness and mobility. Each week we they enjoy a variety of keep fit sessions, some in person accompanied by music others live stream via oomph as well as a weekly wander. Exercise is one of the most highly attended activities within the home and always puts a smile on the residents faces.

Maggie Bakers Boogie-on-Down

Residents at Ouse View are dancing in the isles as they get on down and boogie with Maggie Baker from musical moments. With a full house, staff and residents had an amazing sensory afternoon singing, dancing and playing along with percussion. At Ouse view the residents brought the house down with their lust for life!

Weekly Wonder at the Marina

Residents at Ouse View in Fulford look forward to the ‘weekly wander’, this week residents enjoy a ‘sea breeze’ as they walk down by the river side.

Residents are able to use their senses of sight, touch and smell in observing the seasons change from summer to autumn.

They enjoy wind in their hair, sun on their faces and just having the freedom to roam and recall times when they walked with friends and loved ones over the years.
