Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home

Holy Communion

Supporting our residents to continue practising their faith is really important to us here at Ouse View. On Monday Residents took part in the first full Holy Communion of what we hope to be a long term partnership with St Oswald's Church in Fulford. Reverend Sue Sheriff carried out a beautiful service which residents joined in with well-known hymns and sharing in their faith together in harmony.

Here at Ouse View we respect each Religion and wish to support all residents in which ever Religious beliefs they may or may not have.

Dish of the Week!

Here at Ouse View we would like to show you our 'Dish of the Week' our lovely stuffed fresh peppers and home cut chips.

The chef today whipped up fish and chips also for our Friday fish fix. We focus on nutrition and hydration consistently here at Ouse View.

Blue Light Breakfast July 2022

Staff at Ouse View held a Blue Light breakfast again this morning for all local emergency services personnel in the area. As a way of saying thank you to the paramedics, fire services, police officers and other emergency services workers who don’t always have time to go home or back to their workplace on their break.

The team at Ouse View provide free food and drink to emergency service staff, and will continue to do this, on the last Thursday of each month between the hours of 9.30am–11.30am until further notice.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you the event next month, thank you to lovely Chris and Ollie!

Balloon Tennis

Here at Ouse View we like to encourage our residents to keep exercising to ensure they can independently mobilise for as long as possible. One of our fun ideas for a form of exercising is by playing balloon tennis!

Wimbledon

We had a fun time following the annual Wimbledon tennis tournaments yesterday afternoon.

Our tennis fans were delighted to watch the famous matches virtually from the comfort of their armchairs, whist we all celebrated the event with an afternoon tea party, along with delicious strawberries, cream treats and Pimm’s joined in by our General Manager, Rebekka Richardson.

ICE CREAM MAN!

Here at Ouse View in York yesterday afternoon, in the lovely sunshine, residents were surprised with an ice-cream van at the front doors!

Residents were able to pick and choose which ice cream and toppings they wanted and all staff where able to have their own 99 ice creams too. It certainly is a Happy Home life here at Ouse View.
