Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home

,

Edwardian Tearooms

Ouse View transformed into an old fashioned Edwardian Tearooms for an afternoon, Care Team and Activities Coordinators serving afternoon tea to our Residents. The cakes, homemade by our Head Chef, Eve Goodger and Sean Cawker went down a treat with freshly made coffee and a selection of teas and infusions.

Balloons of Fun

Exercise this morning at Ouse View was something a little different. Ten Residents, sitting in a circle, challenged to keep the balloon in the air for as long as possible, and had a great time as they achieved more and more with each round. Afterwards everyone agreed it had been a great work out: stretching, reaching and bending without even realising they were doing it!

,

Long Walks

Warm and sunny weather this afternoon persuaded our Residents to get outdoors to take a walk. After a gentle stroll, it was delightful to be able to sit and bask in the sunshine while reminiscing about our lives and times in York. Everyone agreed, we can’t wait to get out and about again very soon.

Spotted!

Ouse View Care Home Staff ventured into the local community to make the surrounding areas around a little greener.

Residents from the home, whilst out on their walk, managed to spot us and wanted to say thank you. For the next tidy up litter picking event, any volunteers are welcome to join in and receive refreshments after all the hard work.

A little bit of Magic

The Magic Table is a collection of interactive sensory games for our Residents on Memory Lane and Residential floors. It has incredible benefits which include stimulating hand eye co-ordination, social interaction and cognitive functions. However more than that it provides endless hours of fun with company from all abilities to enjoy.

Completing Crosswords

Crosswords are a great way of keeping our minds sharp. Here at Ouse View, we regularly challenge our residents with word puzzles, and are always impressed by their knowledge and skills.
