Activities at Ouse View Care Home

We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Rachael Turner

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.

We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.

Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.

Life at Ouse View Care Home

OUR TRIP TO ROME

This afternoon here at Ouse View, as promised, we again looked towards the Romans for our entertainment. We enjoyed a cultural and sensory armchair travel event to Rome itself. Beginning with a video of high definition drone footage set to relaxing classical music, we soared above some of the most iconic sights in Rome, marvelling at the Colosseum, St. Peter's Square and Basilica, the Forum and the Pantheon. Next we polished off those delicious Roman Helmet cupcakes we had created this morning, before settling in for a wonderful recorded concert by Placido Domingo. It was big smiles all round for the latest of our multisensory Armchair Travel activities which are proving increasingly popular with our Residents.

Roman Army Cupcake Design!

Residents at Ouse View rolled up their sleeves to decorate a Roman Army of cupcakes this morning. From conjuring up lovely homemade butter icing, getting to grips with the piping bag, carefully sprinkling gold and silver sugar sparkles, to adding the final Roman helmet cake toppers everyone pitched in and had great fun.

Our cakes are destined to be devoured during our armchair travel visit to Rome this afternoon!

Fun With Magic Table

Residents at Ouse View enjoying the delights of the 'Magic Table' playing songs on the piano, building a birthday cake, and having fun with the beach ball as they aimed each into goal!

The Magic table is an interactive sensory experience.

Making Bracelets

Residents here at Ouse View in Fulford created beautiful glass-beaded bangles this afternoon. They selected their own beads from a wide choice available, each creating their own unique design, then diligently mastered the art of threading the tiny beads onto memory wire. Everyone had a very happy afternoon of crafting and went away wearing their own handcrafted jewels and great big smiles!

Ready- Steady- Bake!

Residents here at Ouse View in Fulford enjoyed decorating cupcakes and biscuits this afternoon.

After a movie morning watching the Greatest Showman, Residents were happy to rest their voices and concentrate on some delicate decorations.

"I wish for happiness like this forever."

Spa Day!
