Activities at Ouse View Care Home
We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Rachael Turner
We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.
Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Ouse View Care Home
Crafting Flowers
We are delighted to have some talented crafters amongst our Residents here at Ouse View. Today, they have created sumptuous paper flowers in vibrant colours to brighten the home on a rainy day.
Crystal Palace Chronicles
We had a lovely time joining Graham Whitlock for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘The Crystal Palace Chronicles: Star of Nimrod’.
Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fictional character Joe, who went on a rollercoaster adventure travelling back in time to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace.
Everyone had lots of fun during the virtual talk, as Graham took them on a clever and hilarious adventure. A great time was had by all.
International Nurses Day 22
Today we celebrated the anniversary of the birth of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale, also known as International Nurses Day, by acknowledging our dedicated and hard-working nurses who work for Barchester and everywhere in the industry.
To mark the occasion and to say thank you, our talented chef prepared delicious treats and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.
The Namaste Room
The Namaste Room at Ouse View Care Home is a calm, relaxing space in which residents are able to explore their own individual senses and imaginations. Today, we enjoyed a lovely session playing with “the children”, blowing bubbles for them and helping them to explore textures and tastes exactly as we would have done as young mums. It was lovely to glimpse our residents as they would once have been, and help bring their past to life again.
STAR SINGER
Residents at Ouse View thoroughly enjoyed some live Sunday afternoon entertainment, toe-tapping, clapping and singing along to 1950's and 60's songs with Matt. They even called for an encore, and got one. We're looking forward to welcoming Matt back very soon.
Time to Dance!
Residents at Ouse View today enjoyed a Bank Holiday music session. They had great fun singing, dancing and playing percussion to accompany a selection of golden oldies.
