Activities at Ouse View Care Home
We understand that the people we will be supporting will have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team will be dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events will be organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active.
We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities.
Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love. We also enjoy our regular clubs, virtual events and varied life enrichment programme.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

PAT Dog Visit
A firm favourite here at Ouse View is our beautiful PAT Dog Bruno, who again popped by this afternoon to delight our Residents. It’s wonderful to see how everyone lights up when Bruno is around, and how much love and attention one young Chocolate Labrador receives from his doting fans. We can’t wait until his next visit!
Crafty Dreams
This afternoon Residents at Ouse View enjoyed crafting with their friends, as they came together to make their very own dream catchers.
Residents took the time while delicately decorating their dream catchers and discuss their own dreams. Happiness and good health was wished by all, the ladies hung the dream catchers by their bedside to keep wonderful dreams coming.
Valentine's celebrations
Residents at Ouse view enjoyed a heart-felt valentines lunch today as they celebrated Valentine’s day in style.
Residents started the lunch discussing what things we love about our lives and our families, and how grateful we are to be surrounded by love.
Our hospitality team then served up a fantastic lunch of Roast beef with wonderfully tasty strawberry shortcake biscuits for dessert. On each table was a Lindor chocolate to set the taste buds tingling, and the heart shaped balloons and confetti.
For all the tea in China!
Residents at Ouse View have been trying out a variety of different teas in our Tea Tasting Activity this morning.
Armed with copies of simple tasting notes, the aim of the game was for participants to match the tastes and smells of a variety of teas to their written descriptions. It’s an easy way to keep our senses sharp, and looking at those lovely smiles it’s also fun!
Platinum Jubilee celebrations
Residents at Ouse View are in a Royally reflective and patriotic mood today, in honour of the fact that our Queen came to the throne 70 years ago this weekend. Over coffee this morning they reminisced about her Coronation, the street parties they attended, and the early years of her reign, sharing their happy memories with staff and each other. Lunchtime got off to a magnificent start with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem and much enthusiastic flag waving. What a lovely prelude to our planned Platinum Jubilee celebrations this year!
Valentine's inspired cookery demo
We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration. Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.
First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.
