Activities at Parley Place Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Activities Co-ordinator

I love being a friendly face for our residents.  A day in their lives should be filled with the care they deserve and enriched with activities.  We embrace each and every moment and make memories, I have many skills and a passion to provide our residents with the social interactions, lots of activities, smiles, laughter and fun.

Winchester Cathedral Trip

We had such fun at Winchester Cathedral that more residents wanted to experience this trip so we went off again with a group of our lovely ladies for a trip back in history to this magnificent cathedral.

Out and About

Out and About
We've had some lovely mini bus trips lately - we've been to Christchurch Quay to look at the boats and today in this lovely weather we headed off to Haskins to get some idea's for the garden.  Whilst we were there we had to have a cup of tea and try out some of the garden furniture!!!

Charity donation

We were delighted to welcome Lauren from Bournemouth Foodbank along to our community cafe this week to talk about the work they do and their social canteen. We presented them with a cheque from Barchester's Charitable Foundation and Lauren told us how this will fund their social canteen for 6 months. Hearing the breadth of support they offer was very heart-warming and we were pleased to be able to part of this.

Valentine Celebrations

A whole lot of love

We had a wonderful Valentines party this week with the fabulous Charlotte Geary - she sang some beautiful songs for us all around the theme of Love - with a few of our favourites added of course. We love the sound of her voice here at Parley and look forward to welcoming her back soon!

Special Sandbank Surprise

We are delighted to share with you all a special trip we arranged for our lovely resident ambassador Jan and her husband Ivor. In past years Jan and Ivor would go and have a coffee in Sandbanks in what is now Rick Steins restaurant. So the team here wanted to help them to return but in style.

Thanks to Douch Family Funeral Directors who provided us with a limousine and driver for the day, the couple travelled to Rick Stein, Sandbanks with our activities coordinator Brian and Andrea, our volunteer. The restaurant arranged a lovely table overlooking the water where they were served a 3 course meal and could reminisce. Even the damp weather didn't spoil what was a lovely time for a beautiful for couple. Your smiles and positivity run through the home here and we were delighted to have made this special trip just for you.
