Activities at Paternoster House Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Paternoster House Care Home

Party Time Productions

We had a fabulous visit from Party Time Productions who performed their Christmas show: 'Let It Snow'.

Their team brought a great energy to the home and the show was a lot of fun. We are looking forward to more live performances from a range of entertainers throughout the festive period.

Therapy Goat Visit

Paternoster House was once again pleased to play host to an unusual visitor on Monday when a goat called Honey came to visit the home!

Residents at Paternoster House were laughing away to see Honey the goat, accompanied by her friend and therapy dog Zeus, roaming the corridors and rooms as Performing Pets paid another visit. Paternoster House have teamed up with Performing Pets, who are one of the leading pet therapy providers in North London, to provide a rolling programme of therapy animal visits. The ongoing animal visits have so far included goats, puppies, budgies and rabbits, with owls, guinea pigs and miniature pigs planned for future visits!

General Manager Maddie Ilie said: “Our residents love having Performing Pets visit. We keep every visit under wraps so that the residents don’t know which animals they will be bringing! The surprise makes the day even more fun.”

Resident Michael was very amused by the goat today: “You don’t see farm animals inside buildings very often so you have to laugh at people’s reactions! We’ve had allsorts visit now.”

Paternoster House care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Paternoster House provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for up to 90 residents from respite care to long term stays.

Puppy Therapy

A truly fantastic day at Paternoster House because we had puppies visiting!

The incredible team from Performing Pets have been visiting Paternoster House today with a whole pack of puppies! As part of our activities program we have regular animal therapy sessions; today's session with no less than six miniature dachshund puppies was a highlight that residents and staff will remember for a long time.

The adorable little pups have everyone in the home grinning from ear to ear. No one has been able to resist their gorgeous eyes and floppy ears. This is the sort of therapy that works for everyone and brightens up everyone's day.
